Oysterflex sizing - In between sizes

Hi guys new guy here,

I'm looking at the new Daytona oysterflex watch and I have a few questions about the oysterflex size itself.

I've done a bit of research and looked at pics of the AD's size paper tool and from what I can see I'm between sizes on the 12 o'clock side. I'm 6.1 in wrist size which puts me at a D on the 6 o'clock and between sizes being E and a F

I have a few questions so please bear with me:

* Is there a rule that you go up or down a size if in the middle?
* Do you also add a couple mm to your wrist size so it's not a tight fit which moves me to the larger size?
* Unlike the yacht master I understand the Daytona oysterflex has some micro adjustment. How many mm does this equate to?
* Do the AD's have oysterflex size demo's for you to try on rather than just the paper tool?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm a little sensitive as I don't want to drop the cash for the Daytona unless I'm 100% sure it will fit well. Reading some posts I know people with wrist sizes in the middle on two strap sizes aren't 100% happy with the fit. If you are between size or better have a 6" wrist I'd love to hear from you

I know most will say go to the AD but there's nothing like first hand feedback if anyone is in a similar situation like me.

There are micro adjustments on both models you suggest.

My wrist size is on the small side so trying it on doesnt work for me as the watches come in a default size which is larger then my wrist size. I don't know what the micro adjustment covers in terms of actual measurement which is one of my questions...

It's either 3 or 5 mm, which is. 1 to .2 inches.

I don't know the exact size if the adjustment, but knowing it likely won't help you. It really is all about feel. And a rubber strap will feel different than leather and steel, which I'm sure you know.

But I have found that different rubber straps are also different from each other in terms of how they feel


If you are spending this type of money, I've a sneaky suspicion that any AD will accommodate you with trying on the watch.

My suggestion though, if you are going to ask an AD to do this, buy from them. Don't take their time in this way, and then go and find the best deal online. Just my thoughts.

The code for the strap segments is 350501. Underneath this code, you will find a set of two-letters that start with the letter 'E'. The second letter on that code, dictates the length of the strap segment —from 'C' to 'H'. Since there is no 12 or 6 o'clock side on the Oysterflex, the strap segments can be used on either side of the case and two different sizes of segments are usually combined —shorter at 6 and longer at 12— to get the best fit and to keep the clasp centered on the bottom of your wrist.
The measurements are approximate and based off the Yacht-Master Oysterflex codes which as far as we know are the same for the new Daytona on Oysterflex: EC-4cm/1.57" , ED-4.5cm/1.77", EE-5.5cm/2.16", EF-6.5cm/2.56", EG-7.75cm/3.05" and EH-9.0cm/3.54". i.e. A typical combination on a Yacht-Master 40 on a 7.5" wrist would be an EE at 6 and an EF at 12 o'clock.

You need to try the watch on in the flesh. I bought a 116655 from a trusted seller. I have a 7.5 inch wrist. We went with EE and EG. (standard on the yachtmaster are the strap sizes EE and EF). I did that because I like my watches a little loose. It fit but I could not believe it was still tight. I am now spending about $300 more to make both sides EG. I hope it fits and works well I will know sometime next week. Try it on first is the best advice anyone can give you. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the comments to all. I'll do a bit more research as well as drop by an AD for some hands on checking. Got to love an excuse for stopping into an AD

Have you checked the AD's watch paper tool? If you're a 7.5" wrist I put you as a size EF and on the cusp of EG and EH. Did you try those sizes and it didn't work for you? Curious to know why you're venturing off to determine your own size with two EG's

How old are you? I would get the next size up personally, I'm in my early 30s and find I'm still growing.

I had this issue with the yachtmaster. Traded for the Daytona and I am using ee/e.g. On the tightest setting. Fits great on my 7.3 wrist as I like it a little loose. Also has the micro adjustment.

I have a RG Yacht Master and a 6.5" wrist. I went with EE and EF and the 12 o'clock side is all the way in the the 3rd and last hole closest to the 6 o'clock. Most of the time it is comfortable. When I wake up in the morning it is a little snug as my arm swells a bit over night, but the Oysterflex is comfortable. Don't know if this helps.

I would add that he AD only had one size so they had to order me the correct size and I had to wear the watch on a different band for a few days until the new Oysterflex end came in. Not sure if this is the case at all ADs. Good luck to you.

Unfortunately the AD isn't going to swap straps before a purchase to size it for you. It's like them removing links to size a watch before you buy it. I can't get my watch to fit right. It's ok...but for $25k it should be better than ok.
