Shipping from US to Singapore - what carrier?

Has anyone had experience shipping to singapore? What's the best option to ship from the US?

Shipping from the US, both FedEx and UPS are perfectly fine. I have shipped things all over the world using both. Shipping from Singapore, like other counties... that's where you need do your homework.

Thanks. Rookie question, but when I try creating a shipment online through Fedex, I don't see an option to insure the package. How do I insure it?

On the Fedex Ship Manager, look for advanced shipping. You can declare and insure from there

The major couriers are all much of a muchness. What I will say is that customs here are a PITA. The ball clay we shipped down from Thailand last week was held by them for three days and they took eight of the 64 bags. I don't mind that they took the bags of samples but they didn't tell us and we only found out once we did the inventory.

Last year I had a four-sensor gas meter sent out from one of our UK offices and they held on to that for a week for no apparent reason.

FedEx insurance? IIRC they only pay off $1000. Look into Parcel Pro to insure the transit.

Even if the OP was willing to pay the high insurance cost, it wouldn't have worked out anyway.

To ship anything declared at $2500 or greater value from the U.S. nowadays, you need to get a Proof of Filing Citation, which requires a PFC number, which requires first getting a Employer Identification Number (you social security # will not work) from the IRS.

Even with Parcel Pro, you need to show these above credentials to obtain insurance for international shipments.

International shipping has become a total pain in the arse.

actually i'm the guy who was trying to close a deal with the TS.
fyi, i've made 2 purchases so far on this forum, once with davidsw and the most recent one with drster.
for both purchases, it's on a delivered basis into singapore and both times were by fedex.
both very smooth deals and i received everything in about 10 days.

I think the deciding factor was the high cost of shipping, and my lack of experience with shipping high valued items overseas. Otherwise @Mezz72 and I were pretty much in agreement for pricing and I would have loved to sell the watch if we had the shipping all sorted.
