RoverLR4, I used to have many of the same thoughts, until recently. A friend picked one up from Jacek, and I gotta agree with everything you've said. A truly rugged and perfect piece.

You don't realize how wearable this watch is until you put it on the wrist. Amazing watch. Never leaving my collection.

Bought one of them a year ago for a quick flip. After wearing it once, I knew I'd be keeping it.

I've owned pretty much every Rolex sport model- 16520, 116520, 14060, 16610, 116610, 16710, 116710, 16570. I have to say after a few hours of ownership that the 16600 is one of the coolest Rolex models by far.

Why doesn't this model get more love??? I would strongly recommend folks think about picking one up before these get too expensive.
I agree that it is a really wonderful Sea Dweller. I also thing the 116600 is a keeper as shown below...

Beautiful 116600 but not the watch being discussed in the thread unless that is an aftermarket bezel insert.

I agree that the 16600 is a hell of a watch, but I'm still plenty happy with my 14060M (random).

I came very close to buying the SD, though.

16600 really is a classic - no frills, no nonsense, no bling! Absolutely great reference!

I'm not up to speed with all the model numbers. Which of those sport models you have owned were Datejusts out of curiosity?

I agree it is a fantastic reference; when push came to shove I went with the 4K however. I'm certain I could have been happy with the 16600 however. Strange I felt the 114060 was blingy; not so with the 116600!

It’s the first Rolex I got attached to. I’ve had a few and none that I love this much. I can’t even find a newer watch I want more. I’ve also had 3 watch dealers try to buy it off my wrist in the last 2 weeks.
