Assurance that you buy at genuine 16610LV
I would like to buy a 50th anniversary 16610lv, Y or early F series flat 4 model. I very read quite a bit about the distinguishing features but I haven't found anything saying what exact documentation came with these early watches.
How can you be assured when you buy and if in the future sell that you have the real thing? From what I see warranty cards specifying "LV" and serial number simultaneously did not come with the specified serial range, only a warranty brochure with non LV model and serial. Then it seems the hang tag is a document which they rarely have but does show both, this seems the easiest Fake-able item and the price differential seems amazing for a have and have nots. Lastly it seems Rolex knows which serials are genuine if you send them in, is this true, so Rolex service could authenticate? Any help would be greatly appreciated to point me in the right direction. One last ask, if you have one for sale, please let me know:) |

You meant paper, early LV did not come with the plastic card. Maybe the best bet is to buy it from original owner with all papers (with the owner's name on the paper/receipt/charge receipt) and box, tag...
At least my F-serial came with paper/tag/AD receipt that says it's an LV...The price (MSRP) on my receipt was $4875 back then... Couldn't believe that I bought 3 LVs back then :) |

RSC would know exactly how that watch came but I don't think it's a matter of calling and providing a serial #, you have to send it in for service and they'll give you the lowdown. |

RSC should be able to authenticate.
Most important thing is to use a good seller. For example, Govberg is not going to sell a franken. I suppose even well-intentioned resellers could feasibly get duped, but a reputable dealer would take it back if for any reason not OEM, so you should be safe there as well. |

Only few months ago, a local watch collector bought an early 2003 F serial ( RSC HK authenticated ) for HK$ 120 000 and the premium prices now are rising at an alarming rate, faster than you can say "Kermit's Your Uncle! " |

Just dropped mine at RSC St James. I now have paperwork stating the model number as 16610LV! Naturally it will have a movement service only with no polishing and no exchange of any parts, particularly the flat 4 bezel! And the bezels are only available on an exchange basis unlike other models.

the dial strikes me as incorrect on this one. The 'o' in Rolex should be more oval?????

I saw a used M tonight at my favorite grey for over $ 13,000. It will be gone in a week.
Buy the seller and you will be fine. A lot of used won't have the green tag but if they do and still have the sticker LV will be on it. Same with the credit card type warranties. The paper ones if I recall had LV sometimes and sometimes V in the serial number. Best of luck it is a great 5 digit reference. |

My 16610lv F serial fat 4 does not have lv on the paper and only has the dealers stamp and date of sale on it, (for whatever reason they did not put my name on),
It came with the usual books, bezel protector, polishing cloth, Anchor, and both tags, The dealer also gave me a green Rolex wallet and also a copy of the LV press kit folder. Not sure if the hang tag has lv on it but will have a look when I get home. |

but what about the flat 4. I thought that Y & F series were the only to have flat 4 bezels and oval 'o'?
