AP Dual Time

Hey all,

I've found a good price for a pre owned 36mm AP Dual Time from a store in NY ($9k). It looks in good condition but has no papers which I'm told is common for watches that age (c.16 years).

I love the watch but I'm worried about verification of authenticity (how can I do this without sending it for a service) - I'm not even sure there are that many fakes for this watch still in circulation...? Also, I'm thoughtful about how much a service would cost for a watch this old. Obviously it depends on a number of factors but an average cost would be helpful.

Or should I just stay away...??

Thanks in advance.

i wouldn't buy a watch without papers period, but that is just me.

To me it raises two questions:
1. authenticity
2. condition. What i mean is if the previous owner didn't care enough to keep track of the documents, i would question how they treated the watch. Generally those who keep every piece that comes with their watch (box, papers, hang tags, etc) are they kind of people who probably also treat their watches well.

AP will issue a certificate of authenticity, but not without sending it in

Thanks for the feedback. I feel like finding one of these at that price is rare but at the same time I don't want to get ripped off.
