Becomes moot once you wear regularly so for me it is useless.

Wow! 1680s really catching on. I seem to see more feet first reds in the 30k range!
One more reason to love my Mk1 red I suppose..

Great point. Which means, unless you plan on tucking it away as an investment, the moment you "drive it off the lot" (to use a new car comparison) it starts to depreciate with each new nick, scratch, blemish and replacement part.

The one thing I don't like, besides the price, is that case back stick that someone has filled in with a sharpie. What's up with that? |

I think I prefer the dial and hands on my 1978 1680 White.

I wouldn't buy a safe queen looking NOS vintage either....I'd be too paranoid to wear it around and it defeats the point of the watch.

Where do you get NOS from the listing? It even says "light wear from use" in the description. I usually believe that Jacek's asking prices are fair; this one just caught me a bit off guard. I was expecting to see a red 1680, or at minimum a complete set with some special story behind the piece. The Sharpie does bother me.

I looked really closely and could not find "Tiffany" anywhere on the dial...

1680 prices are truly surging in the past few years. Beautiful watch. Hard to relax wearing something so pristine though.

If one takes the time to look around, later versions and very nice 1680s are available from $9,000-$10,000.

1680 Sub in White's have been gaining value, especially in the past year. I don't know why but I've been seeing it. Even mine with service dial, bezel has been increasing so I'll just continue to wear and enjoy it.

Since you posted behind me, I assume your comments were directed to me and whether your comments were directed at me or not Rick, I would agree with your observation - many vintage models have increased in value the past few years, some more than other models. With that said, surging in value, to me, is much more substantial, which I haven't seen happening with the later 1680s.

It came looking like this, but with original bracelet, crown and insert included. I did quite well on the sale, but still wishing I kept it. |
