Is this real?

I’m making the post I always said I never would haha.
Long story very short, my girlfriend was gifted this watch by her mom (who doubts the legitimacy of the watch) today. I can’t open the back at the moment as I don’t have a tool or a ball but hopefully will be able to soon. Some watches I’ve seen online look the same but I’m really only experienced in Rolex SS sport models so I am at a loss.

Nope. It's a fake, and not even a good replica. Rolex doesn't mix Roman numerals with thick markers like that. They also don't put Stainless Steel on the caseback. Also, that's not a type of bracelet style Rolex makes.

I'd wait for a second opinion if I were you. The comments above about dial, caseback and bracelet are all incorrect.

It's a ladies Date (later DateJust) probably a 6917 (remove the bracelet to check). That's a common dial for that watch. Nice oyster bracelet, well worth servicing and wearing. Don't tell mom!

Well that sure took a turn for the good. I’ll keep checking back for other opinions and will post mote pictures when I get the bracket/back off. Once again, thanks everyone for your time and replies!

The above comments are not correct.

The watch appears to be legitimate, date magnification correct, bracelet case back and end links all look correct.

Obviously way to tell is opening case back, but I personally wouldn't even bother if the wind feels OK. Non quick set movement.

Tell her to chill and enjoy the lovely gift :) could use a nice toothbrush clean and probably a service too.

disregard the above statement, the watch is authentic and has well known dial style for its age, it all looks good including the band

People not familiar with vintage Rolex should not comment on vintage Rolex... that's a 14k/SS 6917 with oyster bracelet... looks fine

Awesome! She bought it a few years ago on eBay for $450 and was convinced it was a fake. This forum really is amazing haha

I am not opposed to having it sent to a RSC to have it serviced but does anyone have any recommendations for a trusted, slightly less expensive service center? I fully understand the benefits of going to the RSC but I’m just curious. I am in NW Arkansas btw

Rolex is not a difficult watch for a qualified watchmaker. Look in your area for a CW-21 qualified watchmaker with a Rolex parts account. These watchmakers must meet annual requirements, tools, and quals to keep their accounts.

back 5-10yrs ago that was about how much they sold for! typical 20-25yo smallest SS ladies OP no date, in average condition for age. Slightly more for TT sometimes even original diamond markers.

Today rising tide lifts all boats, was sniffing around for same earlier in the year & they've doubled plus same again for a RSC service.
