Here we go again. Incoming Montegrappa Fortuna in teak
Well I made a somewhat silly offer yesterday on a Montegrappa Fortuna Heartwood in teak not exactly expecting the eBay seller to go for it. I have the pear wood edition but kind of felt like I would have enjoyed the teak model a little more. The teak wood edition I just picked up has a fine nib so I can just swap the section and converter back and forth with the broad nib pear wood pen in seconds. Same brushed rose gold finish on the section and nib. This is the 3rd Montegrappa I've picked up from Truphae on eBay all at great deals with no bickering. I was able to get this pen new for about $60 less than the cheapest price around I could find on the pear edition a month ago. Couldn't believe he accepted the offer! This is a new model pen this year as well. Crazy! Also comes with a nice little Montegrappa notebook. A few pics of the actual pen from the auction. I'll post better pics once the pen arrives.

Now that is a very pretty pen right there!
A sincere congratulations Form! How does she write? Truphae is one of the best people I have ever worked with on Ebay or anywhere else and I can highly recommend them!

Well I got the pen today and the nib is a pos out of the box. Then again, now that I think about it, all the steel nib Montegrappa's I've picked up have been shat out of the box save for the cash. That one is a nice wet medium. I'll have to work on this new pen. The only good Montegrappa nibs I have in my collection seem to be the Greek keyed 18kt nibs and the cash steel medium. Those are nice and well flowing mediums. I don't know, but I think I'm done picking up Montegrappa's for a while. Seriously, absolutely no BS, I've had better luck with Jinhao nibs. They've been very nice on all pens I've ordered. That's been around 10 I figure. Nice flow and reasonably smooth out of the box. Never a baby's bottom once. They've been very good nibs and I've not had to work on them at all that I can remember. The construction of the Fortuna teak pen body and cap are nice but that nib, toss it.

Update on this one. Looks like the barrel has 3 cracks/checking. Going back to the seller. Kenro does not have any replacements in stock so I'll have to order from Appelboom and take a $35 hit on the increase in price

Got lucky and the seller had a new shipment come in. Going with a medium this time. He took a look at the pen and said there's no cracking or plating issues on the replacement

Lol still trying to get one in that isn't screwed up in some way or another. The latest one I have has a ding in the end of the pen body so it's going back as well. I've heard rumors on the street that Montegrappa did actually make "one" of these that is not messed up. I've been tipped off that the ONE pen is available so my highly influential pen dealer has lassoed that unicorn for me and will ship once the current pen is returned.
