26320 upward price trend vs 26331

With the recent upward price trend on the 26320 AP royal oak chrono it puts them at around 20k US for a nice example. A new 26331 can be had for around 21k making them almost the same price. Given this information which would you opt for? It looks like the 26331 is a slow seller from what I can see. Any thoughts ?

I wouldn’t buy either if you’re concerned with future value. I much prefer the date on the prior version. They went from bad to worse on that front.

I'm just asking what people like more out if curiosity that's all. I do like the date on the old one more and I'm not a huge fan of the silver sub dials in the black and blue version. Although the panda is quite nice.....but it's very difficult to read all black chrono counters...

I like the prior version blue dial the best

26320 Chrono

I have black 26320 and was told by boutique rep that there is upward pressure on their prices. (Not sure I buy into that.) My feeling about readbility is - if you're using chrono function, you are unscrewing the push buttons and activating the chrono. Thus you are engaged with its function and can focus on the dials to measure time. Lack of readability does not bother me. Plus, I'm not a fan of panda dials. Just an opinion.

Surprised to hear the price is rising on the old but maybe that is just due to falling supply and so greys raise prices as these are the last they will ever get, much like we are seeing with the LVc recently. I like the colour combos of the new with filled in Panda subdials rather than subdial rings but the smaller 6 subdial jars a bit. Interesting to see if these are updated again with inhouses next year, if not I think their prices will rise too.

Would definitely go with the 26331 for the following reasons:
Better legibility (Bigger subdials smaller constant seconds)
Bye bye screw down pushers
5 year warranty!!!

The panda is my favourite in the ST.

I did not realize they have a 5 year warranty now. Interesting . When did that happen?

Fairly recently. Probably within the past 3 months AP did the 5 year warranty for all new watches purchased in 2017.

They don’t have screw down pushers?

Not anymore. They look like screw downs.

I prefer the new version in the Panda or the Blue.

I just recently bought my first AP - a white dial 26331. The AD I went to also had a few 26320's in stock. I picked my watch after trying a number of different color dials for each of the 26331 and 26320. I was initially bothered by the date window placement and smaller running seconds dial when I looked at photos of the 26331, but in-person, they are non-issues as one's attention is focused on the beautiful textures on the dial, case and bracelet.
One thing I didn't appreciate in looking at photos is that the text size of the AP logos on the dial is also slightly different between the 26320 and 26331, and the 26331 logo looks better to my eye. I might have considered the 26320 if the AD offered a better price compared to the 26331, but they weren't willing to. Makes sense now given what OP is saying about the upward price pressure.

No, they pushers are no longer screw down. It's one additional reason I preferred the 26331, besides the panda dial.

The new 26331 for me by a mile. The Panda dial adds contrast and makes the dial more interesting but the best feature is non-screw down pushers, making it easy to activate the chronograph. It's the AP that got the most wrist time in my collection.

I have to say, the new one is quite stellar in the Silver/White and Panda combination.

I have 26331 panda, the readability is f'ing awesome. Which I was surprised by, I was expecting that to be a weakness based on pics.

Seriously, readability of both the chrono and time on the white dial 26331 is something you have to see in the metal, great piece. No idea if other colors have that same unexpected positive.

I prefer the 26320, I find the silver sundials draws too much attention there by detracting from the dial itself. I also like the screw down chrono pushers, gives me a false sense of increased water tightness
