My Explorer II hums..

My Explorer II 42mm definitely hums...

Not always but I hear it at night time.

I think it's the glowing that's doing it..

Am I correct?

I bought it brand new in 2015 and have had no issues.

Weird..

It is recommended that you wash it occasionally.. Oh that's not what you meant.

My submariner 114060 and Tudor Black Bay are humming to.. In my case I'm pretty sure it is because of the wooden bedside table.. It works kind as a soundbox amplifiying the mechanica movement sound inside the watch. I found out because once I putted my finger on the watch and you couldn't hear the humming anymore... I now lay something soft under the watch to mute the sound a little bit.

Mine belts out the occasional show tune but no humming. Probably just the rotor whizzing at the right moment to hear it,

Rolex movements do emit a humming noise. I believe it’s a resonance that’s generated inside the case from the simple action of the movement in motion.
I’ve noticed it on my GMT Master as well. It’s subtle but can be heard at night when all is quiet.
There’s nothing wrong, it’s perfectly normal and has been the subject of previous threads.

My explorer II 16570 literally sings, and I love it. Was worried it would lose the sound at service last spring but nope, it’s as sonorous as ever.

I recall the sound of my first Expl. II and it was like a metallic chiming sound at a high frequency. Oddly it sounded louder if my down pillow was betwixt the watch and my ear.
