Considering my second...maybe third?
Long post short:
Should I buy one wonder PM to compliment my SS Daytona, or should I create my choice SS trio? I have been a one watch man for 3 wonderful years. I have been ravenously into TRF since I bought my watch in 2014. Since that day, I have built a healthy obsession with mine and all mechanical watches. The silver lining to my 2017 cloud is shining brightly, and I will be in a position to buy a new watch! I have already gotten some great feedback on potential choices across the entire range. Thanks to Chadri and many others for your insights(and previous similar posts)! Now I am considering a slightly different strategy...so here's my Poll. Firstly, I will not be selling my 116520. Initially I considered going for a second watch in the PM range that way I've got polar opposites that can go super comfy and super classic. THEN I thought about all of the SS models I've enjoyed lusting over the last three years(when I didn't think I could afford PM), and I thought about going for a double-incoming of SS that will set me up a pretty looking trio, and potentially have some pocket change left over. PM I've considered RG Olive DayDate/WG Blue DayDate, or maybe a SubLV/SD43 and an SS SkyD to complete an SS Land Air Sea Trio. I know my trio would take time, so patience isn't an issue for me. I've been a One watch man with no issues. This is a big occasion I'm celebrating so jumping from 1 to 3 Rolex watches isn't a bother to me either. Thanks for all the enabling and advice, ladies and gents!

I say go PM. Once I went PM, SS was an afterthought. Except for PT!!! When you wear a Platona, you’re definitely aware of your watch. Seriously though, one SS & one PM would be the ideal collection. If I ever decide to consolidate, I will probably shrink down to three or four watches. One SS, one RG, one YG & one either WG or PT. In the end, I want to be a watch wearer not a watch collector. At some point this obsession gets ridiculous and I’m almost, but not quite there yet.

I vote for LVc + sea/sky dweller. Mainly because variety is important, color is important and because of the better resale values just in case.
Lastly, I personally like white metals more but that just me. Good luck |

I have eight pieces now (seven SS and one titanium) and that's probably too many, but I love the option to switch things up when I get bored.
I might consolidate down to half of what I have now if I grow up but I'm happy where I am at the moment. OP, you could look at it as being relative to your age. If you're, say, south of 50 then maybe go SS trio for a few years and then go PM once you've had your kicks in wearing a variety of SS.

Thanks for the responses guys!! I don't want to be a collector; but I would eventually like some variety to play with. I am little hesitant to drop it all on one really nice watch; but we are talking DayDate and they're just
I'm a seesaw of emotion..

I just went from one to two, my thoughts are 3:
I’ve got a Daytona C & a black Sub C, one more and I’m done for a long time. My 3rd will either be a SS Sky-Dweller or an OF Rose Gold Yachtmaster. You can get a nice PM piece for a healthy discount to the Day/Date... I’m betting when I decide to go for the 3rd, if I get the Everose Yachtmaster, it’ll be cheaper than the Dweller, prob around $14k used/mint. Daytona/LV/Sky-Dweller |

My vote is for PM. I would go WG DD40, either blue or olive. Great complement to the Daytona and has been pretty much a "collection killer".

PM is great to have in a collection and since you have a SS and you don't fancy a big collection.
WG/YG Sub DD 40 BLRO Would be great additions. |

Get PM. Once you go precious metal it will be very hard for you to go back to SS.

Thanks guys! I think will definitely be content with a DayDate and my Daytona. My acquisition strategy will probably go something like: Day Date now, and snag a diver later on. I've still got a little bit of time to think about it, so you may see a few more posts between now and an incoming; but thanks for all the input.

Go PM and grab a minty 18238 or 18239 if you want white gold. Then you still have enough leftover for SS.

DD40 hands down!! The WG Blue is on my wish list but I had 2 SS pieces first so I went YG. Can’t go wrong either way.
