Needs a triple lock crown, glide lock bracelet and for the Explorer II writing to be moved to the bottom half of the dial.

Not sure about bezel. The current one does mark way too easily.

Shouldn’t go back to 40mm. Everyone who says they would buy a 40mm Exp2 go jump on eBay. Lots to be bought.

As much love as there is on this forum for the ExpII in it's current configuration I don't expect to see a change.

Black ceramic bezel with white texture. Similar bezel looks with 1971 model. New movement and 20% price increase.

Think you are refering to the exp, as the exp II has a date.

Hmmm... You'd sell all of your Rolex watches if they made a steel DayDate again, but you don't think they'd ruin the Explorer II legacy by giving it a fragile ceramic bezel?

If anything, a ceramic bezel Explorer II would be an honest admission by Rolex that they've given up completely on the idea of their watches being used as anything more than expensive jewelry.

Ditto. But it also wouldn’t surprise me if Rolex change the bezel to a ceramic offering, but that depends on how they view the watch themselves and which direction they want to push it.

I'm a huge fan of the watch as is, though I do agree that the moving Explorer II to the bottom half of the dial would be a winner.

Great thread gents. I'm not advocating they make any changes; I love mine as is. But as fast as changes are coming of late, I feel like a change might be coming. In the three years I've been into Rolex they've changed pretty much every model in the sports range.

Explorer, Air-King, Milgauss, Daytona, Sea-Dweller, DSSD, YM, YM2 have all changed recently. It just feels like it might be time on the Explorer 2. We'll find out in a couple of months.

Explorer II's future, hopefully on my wrist.

Around 36mm-40mm is my personal sweet spot and although I'd love to see the size drop I was pleasantly surprised how well proportioned the watch felt when I tried one on a few months back.

I've heard plenty of comments about the 42mm Exp II looking clownish but imho it definitely isn't the case, I still regret not purchasing at the time and if it wasn't for other commitments I'd probably own one by now.

They have made 6 steel Day-Dates, six

They can make the bezel out of wurtzite boron nitride

Rolex has tried to make their slow sellers more quick. I think there could be a possibility to have a ExpII with ceramic bezel.

I have ExpII and i like it as it is.

I've had my 16570 for 13 years. It's been a daily driver and I love its size, feel, and wrist presence.

Recently I saw the 42 and didn't care for the size. Looks great in pics but just didn't feel right in the steel. Glad I waited to see it before buying based on pics.

What's in store? A glidelock, maybe a 40 mm case with a little more substance, and maybe a new bezel. Minor changes brings out the plastic and gets people in a frenzy.

I have both a Polar and black 16570, but a move back to 40mm and a historic bezel might get me to go another round. My sights are currently set on a Grand Seiko but that could change.
