Help - Crystal Gasket heights?
I need some assistance with the sapphire crystal on a GMT. The original crystal stood proud of the bezel insert but after RSC serviced the watch the new crystal sits flush with the insert.
I have read that there are different gasket heights. Is this just a matter of putting a taller gasket on to bring the crystal up higher?

You are correct. Rolex does manufacture sapphire crystal gaskets with different heights and each model with the sapphire crystal has a designated gasket height. One reason for this design, is to provide adequate hand clearance and seal integrity. |

I have read that the new crystals are 1.8mm in thickness where the original was 2mm. Without the use of a taller gasket this would put the crystal at a lower height than the original. I believe this may be the case with this particular watch. I have the original gasket which measures 2.7mm but haven't removed the retaining ring yet to measure the "new" gasket. I suspect it is either a shorter gasket or simply needs a 3mm gasket to bring the crystal up to the proper height. Now, it is just a matter of sourcing a Rolex 3mm gasket.

They still make the crystal 2mm thickness. It's the B25-295-C12-C1. They probably installed the B25-295-CAR-C1 which is 1.8mm.
Both crystals are correct and within spec from Rolex for your model. |

Thanks. Given the 16760 has a bezel that is .5mm thicker than the 16700 and 16710 I would expect that it would need the taller crystal/gasket combination to get the crystal to the proper height.
