Icon15 New Fake Vintage Rolex

With the influx of threads recently showing countless Vintage Rolex's - some real, some fake, some cannot be determined from photos... are there companies that produce NEW vintage watches that are made to look old and weathered?

I have scanned the web pretty hard and see nothing. I just wonder where these come from?

And please - this is not a 'hater' thread for fake watches or the people that post them - this is a genuine question about the source of these non-legit timepieces.

There are, unfortunately, and have been for some time.

yeah there are a few sites that produce "replacement cases",and for a fee they will engrave your "old" serial number into your new case...
its just a clever way to hide what they are really up to..which is producing fakes and high end copies.
I have posted the site before but it is really frowned upon because they dont like that info being accessible to just anyone..its not just us "good" guys who read these forums.

It is really hard to tell, but the scary thing is, is that many of the vintage pieces share the same movement. Take, for example, the 1680 white or red Sub, it shares the same cal. 1570/5 movement as the OP Date and DJ. You can pick up and OP date or DJ really cheap and take out the movement, pick up a 1680 white dial & hands for about $1000 and put it in a fake case and you now have a pretty high quality fake watch that you can sell for 5K plus (that can fool many people) that you have $2K plus invested in....not a bad return! That is what scares me.

Steve and Scott:

Thanks for the enlightening posts. It's scary out there -- a "renumbered" case and genuine caliber, dial and hands. I wonder how many collectors are fooled by this?

Cheers,

Chris
