Padi"s Tonsillitis
I bloody HATE these infections 48 hours ago I was happily shouting abuse, at Big Brother's latest crap ej@cul@tions. Accompanied by a cool beer on one side, Mrs Padi on the other and the old dog snoring away contentedly on the floor in front of me.
Suddenly and without any notice whatsoever, that familiar and manically depressing sandpaper twitch appeared from bloody nowhere. At first it can be very easily confused, for a small piece of crisp that you haven't quite swallowed properly. But then you realise with building horror, that the little germs are multiplying, sharpening their pointy claws, and preparing to squat in your throat for the next three to four, bleeding days. They'll be using paint stripper, pumice stones, and B&Qs coarsest sandpaper on your tonsils and epiglottis. Thus ensuring that every tiny piece of mouth watering food, every beautifully chilled pint of lager,or single malt, will be utterly ruined, by the scraping agony that comes with every dry burning swallow, that is the common sore throat. Ice cream, iced tea, ice cold Grolsch (with the stone tops), juice, yogurt...NOTHING helps ease the bleeding pain And in May too - I ask you Not only is the shear inconvenience and irritation of having tonsils like tennis balls, enough to drive you insane. You spend the next 4 days asking yourself just who the fek did you catch this unwelcome deep throat experience from?. Was it some one at my voluntary work? Or perhaps that bloke you stood next too in the queue at the petrol station, or perhaps 'friends' you had over at the weekend? What a pain, and just in time for the Bank holiday, such is life. .

Try Hibitane. It's a disinfectant (tablets) and made by ICI I think. I’ve always benefited from this.

I had my tonsils removed when I was only 10 or so. Hope you feel better soon, Padi...it's a bit late in life to go through that kind of discomfort and pain!!
Get well soon, my friend!!

Horrible, padi. I can certainly empathize with you - when I have not been visiting classrooms with kids in them for a long time, I am very healthy. But as soon as I visit a few of these rooms with coughing, sneezing and hacking children, I get the same thing! Our team of five tech specialists have the same problem. Sometimes, two or three of us are out for a day or so at the same time. Bummer!!!
Hope you are feeling better soon. Chicken soup is a great remedy, I hear.
