Real or fake

Hi, I bought a Rolex Submariner 116610. The watch came with the box, warranty card, hang tag and all links. I met up with the buyer at my local AD. We had the watchmaker authenticate the watch by looking at the watch and unscrewing the case back. This AD is also a certified Rolex repair centre (Damiani Jewellers in Toronto).

I'm still not 100% sure the watch is legit (I'm paranoid).

I feel like I did my due diligence but would really appreciate an opinion.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to look at this post and giving your opinion.

Sincerely,
Philip A.

Really not sure how to help by looking at a couple of pictures

All of that is not good enough to make you comfortable? But the opinions of Internet strangers based on pictures alone are going to make you feel better?

I'm going to defer to the Rolex certified watchmaker, who not only handled the watch but took the back off it.

What more do you need?

there are several here i would trust with a real or fake determination for sure. These guys track down a ton of eBay junk too keeping everyone a bit safer.

But yeah, a Rolex certified watchmaker i would trust too.

This - not much more to be said...

Maybe shoot Jean-Frédéric Dufour an email?

If the Rolex certified watchmaker says it is good, I'd have to trust that. Outside of that, you'd have to send it to an RSC.

Didn't you call somebody else's SubC fake when it turned out to be genuine?

Not sure how this is relevant to the conversation here...maybe try replying to the OP's actual question rather than just trolling?

As to the OP, Damiani is a top-shelf jewelry store, in addition to being a Rolex authorized distributor...they definitely won't steer you wrong in any way.

I bought a watch there personally and their watchmaker Frank Teti is as good as they come!

I’d honestly feel more safe with whatever the consensus turns out to be on these forums over a Rolex watchmakers opinion - who likely won’t even put said opinion in writing.

That’s a big portion of why I registered on these forums, to get everyone’s help next time I decide to buy.

OT: the sub looks good to me.

Did u pay and get a certificate saying authentic. I’m a noob and it appears to be good to me. So take it for what it’s worth. Enjoy the watch

Sorry to sound like a jerk, but I’m a bit confused. Isn’t a decent way you tell if a watch is legit is by having a certified watchmaker look at it (including the movement), which you did? I mean it could be a REALLY good fake, but I’m not sure how feedback on a few mediocre pics on a forum is going to top what you already did by having someone that knows what they are doing closely inspect the watch in person. Am I missing something here?!?

Thanks for all the responses. I should've been more specific about why I was a little concerned.

The watch maker didn't seem to take this too seriously. He read the numbers off the inner bezel and asked me to compare it to the warranty card and told me its legit. I asked him to open the case back and he reluctantly did it and in 2 seconds said it's legit. I know that there are good fakes out there, and I thought the watchmaker would take more than two seconds to look at the watch.

Hard to tell from those pictures, but to me the numbers on the bezel seem a little off. The 30 looks a little ‘fat’, all other numbers are thin, except the 30. I check on the Rolex website and on their pictures the 30 is definitely thin. Of course this could be caused and probably is, by lens distortion making the 30 look fatter than it really is... but if you look at the 0 on the 50 and the 30 they seem different. Otherwise, it looks pretty good.

Believe it or not that's how quick they can tell if the watch is legit or not. A glance at at the front and a glance at the movement and its done. They handle watches everyday so I'm sure you can trust them.

Bring it to your nearest RSC for a service estimate. That should clear up any concerns.

If you don’t want to take it to RSC, just take it to an AD and tell him you’re interested in selling. He’ll open it up and make sure it’s genuine before making an offer.
