Rolex and Shooting?
Is it harmful to a Rolex to wear it while shooting a handgun at the range? Could the recoil shock throw anything out of whack?

No issues at all. I am in the industry and haven never seen recoil been a issue with any automatics. This is even with some very advanced hardware.

Probably no harm done but why not just wear a beater like a G-Shock?

It hasn't done anything to mine. I am, shall we say, avid and frequent, with varying degrees of recoil.
It's a Rolex. It's built for anything.

I wear mine golfing which also has some impact and I’ve never had any issues. All the oyster models are very robust.

I can speak to this. I am a very experienced shooter with lots of experience shooting all types of firearms. I actually have my own rifle and pistol range at my farm. I never wear a mechanical watch when shooting. The recoil is just too much for a mechanical watch. I always wear a quartz watch. Professional soldiers tend to go with Casio G-Shock watches or Suunto quartz watches. This is my preferred shooting watch: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I've worn a few of my Rolex shooting. Trap, pistols, large rifle. No problem in over 5 years.
