Even if you're so lucky to hear the (deceitful) words "you're on the list", it's really just a thinly veiled "no" as there'll always be someone who comes along before your name is reached who'll get dibs first. It just really irks me that having the money--$10k+-- is simply no longer enough to get you a watch. $10k may be chump change to some folks on here, but to the vast majority of the world it's a hell of a lot of money, no less to spend on a mass-produced watch boasting such antiquated mechanisms- just objectively speaking. But I've obviously no qualms with spending the money on one as I grew up loving watches and have desired a Rolex ever since I can remember. Again, just venting because of how impossible AD's make it for regular guys to get these things. I don't care to own a Rolex (or any timepiece) as a status item, so I absolutely refuse to pay a dime over retail, which is already so far above the watches intrinsic worth.

Just the fact you are passionate about not being able to get it and because its not currently obtainable then Rolex is doing its job. I bet if you get the opportunity to buy it, you will immediately do so. People who might not otherwise even buy it when they finally try it on almost always buy it anyway. The pass rate is very low on anything that is a must have item. Personal preferences get thrown out the window and Rolex sells more watches. People even routinely buy their less favored configuration or dial color just because thats the one they get offered.

If you are looking in a big city such as NYC or London. STOP STOP STOP.

Broaden your horizons. There are still plenty of AD's out there and they will have Subs and Sub dates ready to buy. EXP and EXP2. DSSD (non Cameron).

Lead times on SD43 are reported to be less than two months from some on here....while other dealers are getting less of those than Daytonas...so that one is a bit tricky.

Daytona, BLNR, SS Skydweller, and Hulks are tougher....BUT is that what you really want?

They are out there....
Agreed. I have a 2005 GMT II and as an average Joe who has an interest in Rolex watches, have looked at expanding my collection. Regardless of the new models coming out, I managed to recently purchase a black Deepsea which I love, from an local AD who had one in their window. In Austria recently I also visited an AD who had a black Deepsea and a red SeaDweller in the drawer. The only reason I didn’t buy the red SD is because of the exchange rate and the foreign transaction %. This in the space of 2 weeks so the SS models are around.

Pretty sure everything at the 10k (candadian) range is readily available in Toronto.

Based on what I’ve read on this forum and others, and what I’ve seen in the stores these days, if you limit your search to ADs, you’re probably right for the most part in many areas of the world; but you will never convince most of the forum members that SS watches from ADs are beyond the reach of the average Joe, because I suspect we, as a group, are already past the point of no return when it comes to rationalizing the amounts of money we spend on these watches, regardless of how well off or not we are in the long term picture, our incomes, investments, and debt loads considered. If I were you, I’d focus on preowned watches from trusted sellers, save some money, and lose some of the frustration.
