Cartier Diver Opinions
I tried it on today and really liked it.
A couple of things called my attention, the blue version was much more comfortable than the black one, the strap was way softer. Anybody else felt that? It also had two strap retainers instead of one. The dial of the blue is nicer as well, the details come through better, but the bezel is "too blue" and not the same color as the hue as the rest of the watch. Which do you like better? How is comfort after wearing it for a while?

I agree. Tried the gold/blue diver; strap is VERY comfortable!

It's a comfortable watch indeed.

I have only tried on the black one and honestly I really liked it. I'm a sucker for a diver on rubber and I do like Cartier in general.
My reservations were the IWC style date wheel and the romans only being in the top half of the dial. Finally, I recall Bas saying he wasn't enamored with their movements after having a look. Given he's a Cartier owner and fan, I was not happy to hear that feedback. (Hopefully I recall that correctly) |

I like them both a lot. I did find the blue to be too blue.
I prefer the black. However, I do them a little out of proportion. I like them on other people. But it's not a watch for me.

I owned a standard Calibre on bracelet and the date window was very hard for me to read. That was really my only complaint, very well made and one of the best bracelets I've come across. I like the Diver quite a bit and they're easy to find used at great prices.

I understand they want an in-house movement and that it's not going to be a Rolex 3135 in terms of robustness. But a little more engineering wouldn't hurt, so what if that drives the MSRP up by 500 bucks for every watch... I'm not too happy about the 1847MC movement. But now researching the newer 1904MC movement which is in the Drive de Cartier line, this looks like it's better finished and the parts/bridges underneath the dial look simple but definitely not as bad as the 1847MC, I'd say comparable to a high-grade ETA. |

As to the blue dial/bezel hue difference, that seems true whenever a dial has metallic finish. The bezel annodizing seems off a tad. The only blue diver I saw with spot on colors was the smurf but that's due to a flat blue dial methinks.

I fell for the blue version on rubber, I will have it Monday. I’ll post a pic ASAP. This is my first Cartier, I’m hopeful that I don’t regret it.
