Need some help deciding...

Hi all,

Thanks for chiming in.
I got a call from my AD today about a piece I was “kind of” on the list for. It is the new moon phase Cellini. I wanted to see this piece in person and decide if I wanted to buy it or not. When I saw it in person today, I really did like the watch. It wore very comfortably.

However, here is the issue. I saw an ever rose sky dweller on a strap and it caught my attention as well.

When I got home I did some research and found out the sky dweller on a strap could be had for around 25k used which is roughly around the same price for a new moon phase Cellini.

Which one would you guys go for? Here are some shots of the watches on my actual wrist.

Added a picture of the blue dial ss sky dweller on the bracelet for another opinion!

Thanks for looking!

I'd skip the Cellini, as I'd want a true moon phase.

I'd pass on those.

Others are better at Moonphase.

The RG SKD is illegible

Thanks for all the feed back guys. I think I’m going to go for the Rg SD. Once I get it, I’ll post some pictures!

If you like dress pieces look at Lange - 1815, Richard Lange and Lange 1 models.

RG Sky-d is an amazing piece, and that particular model is discontinued now. There are other RG Sky-d dial options available now with stick dials. You can find them on Rolex website.

If the SkyD ss is not an option, I would go with the RG SkyD on strap.

Candidly, none of your choices. SD appears too big for your wrist, and am not impressed by the Cellini.

Cellini is not a great play if your real need is a dress watch around that price point. Suggest you do some further research. Your wrist doesn't support the other watch, sorry to say.

If you ever had to sell the cellini you would take a real beating! I like the SD most, the ever rose is stunning.

You should consider a Patek Phillipe Calatrava 5196. You can get one for less money than the Cellini Moonphase, and they’d fit you a lot better. Plus, they make quite a statement on your wrist.

I would normally say the blue SD but as others have mentioned, from the photos you provided it looks too big for your wrists.

Agree...and less for that matter! I tried this one a few times as well...definitely nice but Cellini line just never said “Rolex” to me. Maybe that’s the point? But I’d go JLC route for that kind of money. And honestly, actually prefer the time only Cellini to the moon for a value standpoint.

For $25k, JLC is just the tip of the iceberg for a more or less basic dress piece. He could also be looking at Vacheron, Patek and Lange with that budget.....not to mention their offerings would look 1000x better than that Cellini.

I prefer the SD but... The Cellini moon phase suits much better to your wrist size but... As mentioned above, for the price you can have for example 2 JLC master calendar meteorite... Or something else that is much nicer than the Cellini but... It is up to you to decide...
