Watchbox or ????
I have been looking at a nice box to house my various watches while they are not being worn.
Currently, they are just laying there, on display, on my nightstand. This way, I can wind them easily as needed, admire & touch them very readily. The prices of decent watch/display boxes is a bit goofy, in my opinion. What do the rest of you TRF's do with your collections?? Not sure if I should buy the display box or just keep doing what I have been doing. Opinions please....

It really is all personal John. You can buy a nice winder/watchbox for your nice mix of autos and manuals, or you can just keep doing what you are doing.
I got a RobBox, for those that don't know, RobNY is a guy that hand makes watch boxes then gives them out to Paneristi all over the world. Mine holds three, but it sits in the safe with the other watches I am not wearing. I do like to have some watches out to play with though, so I like what you are doing. Sorry, I just realized I was less than zero worth of help. LOL!

The ones I wear on a regular basis sit on my dresser when I'm not wearing them. This way it's easy to grab the one I decide to wear on that particular day. I have a few that don't get worn regulary that stay in a jewelry box that Kelly bought me. On the inside of the top part, there is a removable panel that holds four watches. I also keep one in my tool box in the garage for those severe use situations.

My brother gave me a watch box for Christmas. It's not a winder though. Honestly, putting them around the little pads and taking them in and out of the box is a hassle, I just leave them on top of my dresser.

I have a cherry box designed to hold eight normal size watches from Bombay Company. It's a nice box that sits on the dresser and holds my Monster and ExpII, straps and springbar tool, polishing cloth. Next to it I have the OEM Panny box.
If I were in your boat John, I'd look at getting a double winder for your two autos and maybe one of those cases NYCPMAN sells here and on paneristi for the handwounds. Or, seeif you can get a double winder that has storage space for two or three underneath. Ebay is a good source of boxes that aren't over the top expensive. Watchprince.com has some nice ones, but they can get stoopid expensive. |

For a while I was using a watch box which I picked up in Singapore for about S$80:
Don't mind the cat - he's just curious. Anyway, we had a bit of a scare last December. I had just come back from Singapore and noticed signs of disturbance in my backyard - someone had obviously been poking around back there, and none of the signs could be explained by the MIL-elect's gardening work. As a result, I got a safe and kept my Rollies in there. Anyway, after all this time it looks like the coast is clear, and it's time to get my babies out again. Since the watch winder is arriving some time this fortnight, though, it looks like the box won't be getting any further use in the foreseeable future.

I keep mine on winders. I use a quad, a triple and a single. I have a spare triple just in case one of the others goes down. The quad winder has a drawer in the bottom where I keep an auto that I never wear and a manual that has no use for a winder.
Here's my current operating environment. Sorry for the line through the pic. There was something wrong with the upload.

Thanks for all the "input"
I will keep looking for the "right box", If that even exists. I don't mind them the way they are. The night stand is fairly small, so it would only hold a small double winder, so they would have to be placed a bit further away. They way I have them now, I find myself changing watches during the day I have managed to have worn all 5 in rotation in one day or ( If you ask my wife )

Well, mine are usually on the winder (if auto) or sitting on the dresser.

With only two watches, no problem.....one on the wrist and one snug and safe in the little vault.
