Frozen in Time

So I was riding the train last night after picking up a 16610 (my first sub), and saw this ad with the picture of a watch on it. Needless to say, I was moved by the story conveyed through the text, but then my WIS-self's gaze shifted toward the watch. The first thing that struck me was the tapestry dial, so I looked a little closer and saw the triangular marker on the bezel, as it was also engraved with numbers and engine-turned. I then walked up to the poster and looked for the logo, and if you look close enough, you'll see the coronet lurking beneath the shadow. I must've been the only person on the train who recognized this Turn-O-Graph.

The feeling this poster evoked is much like the Titanic or Pompeii - an artifact captured in times of tragedy, and something that we'll never forget.

Cool watch pic. Is the time on the watch about the time the plane went down? Not to stir things up but that plane may have been shot down. Rumsfeld/Cheney let it slip in an interview. Can you imagine the uproar if they would have admitted that they shot it down? Here is a link:

Yeah...why would citing a whackadoo rag to support an offensive conspiracy theory in the midst of a thread honoring a person killed in a horrific event stir things up?

I was in NYC a couple of months after it happened and went to ground zero. It was still smoldering. I was supposed to fly from AZ to Philly on 9/12. The trip was delayed. A truly horrific time for America. Thanks for the photo!

How is this post irrelevant? It's about a watch connected to the 911 Memorial. My statement was about that memorial.......don't read the link or better yet look up the definition of irrelevant.

thanks

Your statement was not about the memorial, but about how one of the planes in which people honored at that memorial was brought down. It does not add to the discussion about the watch shown in the poster, and is bound to stir up negative emotions. Common sense would suggest you bring up such ideas in more appropriate fora, which are not on this website. Now, you're risking turning this thread into a hornet's nest that has to be locked by the mods. Good job.

It was a harmless statement that was in numerous publications at the time. And it is indeed about the memorial.....read what you like into it. How the plane was downed does not take away the bravery on that flight that day. Your nit-picking is what escalated this.......so I should check with you next time I want to post to see if it's OK? Freedom of speech is not welcomed here?

There was no need to post a link to a conspiracy theory here in this thread and you know it. You said "Not to stir things up" but it's obvious that is exactly what you are trying to do here. The post was simply about a Rolex watch presumably found in the wreckage of flight 93. OP was not inquiring about how that wreckage came to be wreckage. That is irrelevant.

This is a pretty cool thread and it does bring out a lot of emotion from those of us that are from the USA. To just appreciate the robustness of a Rolex defeats the purpose of the finding.

Yes much emotion. Senseless losses of innocent lives. A striking image of his ToG brings it rushing back.

Beamer, and the brave comrades who joined him, saved many lives on the ground in DC that day.

I was in NYC around the same time. Crazy to see the smoldering remains and all of the posters at the train station looking for loved ones...
