Explorer 114270 with or without engraved rehaut
I find that the Explorer 114270 checks everything I'm looking for in a watch, so I'm searching for one with the intent that it will be with me for life.
I know that ones with the engraved rehaut command a slightly higher price. I realize this is mainly because there are fewer of them and they encompass the latest serial numbers. I'd love to hear opinions/preferences for or against the engraved rehaut, if you were in my shoes. |

On the 114270 I'd recommend finding the latest one you can and in the best condition, with condition perhaps being more important. If the engraved rehaut is something you want then don't settle for anything less. You'll always wish you had it otherwise.

Thanks for the input. That's the thing, I'm not sure I do prefer it. One of the watches greatest attributes is its simplicity - I feel the engraving might take away from that. Call me crazy?

I prefer it without. Some watches look better with the engraved rehaut, but the 114270 isn't one of them, IMO. Keep it clean and classic for the 36mm Explorer.

Not crazy at all. I prefer the 16610LV without an engraved rehaut. I'm okay with it on the four-line 14060M but prefer the two-liner without.
I have no opinion on the 114270 other than knowing I'd prefer one in mint, unpolished condition above all else. I'd want to put my own scratches in it. |

I like engraved rehauts, but I looked this reference up, and you're correct, this one looks cleaner without the engraved rehaut |

I have a 114270 without the engraved rehaut. As a smaller 36mm watch, it looks cleaner.

I had the 114270 twice, think if would buy another one would prefer this time the latest model with rehaut. There are random serial 114270’s, those are the very latest ones to be released.
