The powers that be are definitely making cash as unappealing as they can.

Here in the UK 5's & 10's are now synthetic not paper, 20's & 50's to follow.

These new notes don't carry in the pocket as well. They stick together and a wad just doesn't feel the same. Not as comforting or as easy to use as having a wedge of normal paper notes.

So another subtle push towards card use. Contactless is more or less hassle free.

All purchases fully tracked and the banks get a slice of every transaction, even if it's only a pack of gum.

I prefer cash. Especially in instances in which I am worried about my credit card info/fraud.

While I prefer cash, I usually end up using my card. It's hard to book anything without a card these days.

I try to keep a few bucks around for miscellaneous purposes. Most purchases I use a credit card, however.

Eating out with wife & friends is a cash transaction. Business trips, luncheons & dinners are Amex.
I hope & pray we never get away from cash. I do understand the concerns however I believe “big brother” monitors us enough.

Usually carry about $500 to $1000 in cash. Don't like less than $500.

I too find it amusing to watch young cashiers struggle to do make-change arithmetic, especially if I add coins in order to make it easier for them. Many times it just confuses them more and their eyes get a little panicky, my bills in their hand, hesitating, hovering over the opened till drawer, staring down into it but not really seeing.

In Germany, it would be practically impossible for me to not use cash on a weekly basis.

Sad to hear so many people pro cards.... If you like to gift money to the banks keep going cards only. And for the ones playing the card "i get benefits back" the only real thing you are getting is an higher price on the goods you are buying due to the transaction fees...

Cash is freedom and privacy.

It depends on what you are buying. All transactions with a card or funds transfer are tracked, cash and crypto are anonymous.

$500 to $700 on,me at all times , more in the gun safe and bob bag. Cash is excepted at more places then plastic . I pay cash for all home and car repairs and save a good bit as most guys prefer to stay off the books .

If we ever went to cash Less it would cost me plenty , I’ve not paid a guy by check in twenty years, cash gets quite a discount .
