Is anyone watching the series 'The Terror' on AMC?

I started watching it with my son when it debuted a few weeks back and immediately I was hooked. I love nautical themed shows and this one is pretty good. I know it is a fictionalized version of a historical event that we know very little about but I like the look into that period of our history. Polar exploration in the 1800s had to be absolutely brutal.

It inspired me to buy the novel by Dan Simmons, which I'm reading right now. Really enjoying both of them.

For those who aren't aware, 'The Terror' is a 2007 novel by American author Dan Simmons. It is a fictionalized account of Captain Sir John Franklin's lost expedition of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror to the Arctic, in 1845–1848, to locate the Northwest Passage.

Jared Harris plays the role of Captain Francis Crozier. I loved him in AMC's 'Mad Men.'

its a great show. Its very fictionalized but i like the concept and the actual story too. One of my favorite new shows for sure.

Arctic Ghost Ship on PBS is the documentary on the expedition as well as the discovery of the Erebus . Its a must watch companion piece to the show.

I'll have to check that out. I'm simply fascinated by the history. I've watched probably 3 or 4 documentaries on Sir Ernest Shackleton's last expedition to reach the South Pole. That is a truly amazing story of survival against all odds.

Interesting fact, researchers only found the wreck of the HMS Terror a couple years ago.

If you would like to read the book I'll loan it to you when I'm finished with it.

Wife and I are half way through the season. Great show with a very fun story line in a unique setting.

Just started the series. Seems pretty good. The Dan Simmons book is outstanding. Google the Terror/Erebus expedition. There are some interesting results from the last three or four years!

I have been watching also and like it. Not too many stories like this take place in Nunavut in the Canadian Arctic so that also piqued my interest.
