Most dials and fonts are now computer laser painted,dials are made mainly for the volume sellers out of brass.Some dials are made from various precious metals,minerals etc, and even at one time wood.

Would agree but bet dial does not weigh more than perhaps a couple of grams.Suppose there would be enough Platinum to make a few halogen bulb coiled filaments.
