At RSC - should I change the hands?
Just received a quote for service and other bits for my 2006 GMT2.
I have the option to have the hands changed as they have some wear. Should I change them or keep it original?

Your hands are already luminova so there's no downside to changing them in your case.
If you had a more vintage year with tritium then the answer would be different. However, 12 years seems soon for hands wearing out. I'd ask for clarification on what's worn so you aren't buying parts unnecessarily. If they were truly worn then I wouldn't think this would be optional but instead mandatory. |

The chap said the hands were not really that bad, therefore optional. Seeing as it will be another 10+ years before it’s serviced, I’m thinking of getting them changed now. The watch is definetly a keeper. Thanks for the reply

If the hand lume matches dial lume I wouldn’t change them.

I would, but I'd rather have a shiny perfect watch than an original watch.
And I'm curious why your hands have wear in the first place. Seems like they should have lasted longer than that. |

These are luminova so the replacements would be a 100% match. Only tritium changes color over time. Luminova stays white. |

Removing hands from the pinion posts causes a small amount of wear in the center bores of the hands. Replacing them guarantees a like-new fit. That's likely why they suggested it as an option rather than being mandatory. They typically shouldn't wear under normal use unless bent by high impact or improper installation.
