My GMT does not get as much use, unless I am traveling and then it is priceless.

Get what you want, but you might kick yourself on your next holiday.

Go for it.

I haven’t been on for years. I have GMT’s and planet ocean. I wore much more than my new GMT. I do really like my older Pepsi’s and Rootbee. I’ve never sold any. Personally, I’d say wait until you can add. I suspect the Rolex will hold its value better if you are going to go down the flipping path, which I wouldn’t personally recommend, then I’d try sticking with SS Rolexes.

Personally I wouldn't because I prefer the GMT to the Omega but get whatever watch you like and think you would prefer to wear. Who cares if Rolex is the hottest watch around, or holds its value better etc. If you prefer the Omegas, get them and enjoy your watches. Life is too short.

All of those reasons above are fantastic if you prefer the Rolex in the first place but they should not be the reason you buy one.

Get the one YOU want and like.
That's the only reason you should buy anything.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare omega and Rolex. A Rolex is at least twice more expensive than an omega for something similar/ equivalent. If you want to make comparison, then choose a brand like Tudor’s...

Go ahead and sell it. But you will regret it later on. Just my opinion, it’s your watch.

Actually some of the new Omegas are the same price as a Rolex. And their ceramic moon watches retail are 12k! You can get one used for ~7k.....and when your spending Rolex money on an Omega its kinda hard to choose the Omega.

I really like Omega and would own one, but i ask myself...is this really worth it...

Omega used to be a great choice for a top quality swiss watch and not breaking the bank.......thats no more

Tough call. I just got an Omega Big blue (Ceramic) and have owned the GMT for 6-7 years. For me, I know the BB isn't for everyone (color and size turn off many) but I love it's uniqueness. Ceramic and that movement really are good reasons to have that Omega. I suspect the history is on the side to keep the GMT. For me, I get to have both, but you don't have that option. If I were you, I'd be leaning to the Omega. It's a bit of a different beast, and IMO, actually a has some better features.

You have a tough decision, but either way you'll have a great piece on your wrist. Enjoy it!

I own both a modern Omega and a modern Rolex. Interested in hearing why you say the Rolex is worlds ahead of the Omega? I'm not talking about the value retention etc you mentioned in your first post. Those points I agree with but your other comments, please explain why everything else is worlds ahead. My Seamaster Spectre, which has the Co-axial movement is spot on and has been for the several years I've owned it. It gains maybe a second per month no matter what position I leave it in. I have hiked, rafted, skied, and dove with it. Seems like a pretty good watch to me I wear it on a nato but have looked at the bracelet it came with many times and it is extremely robust and well put together, The clasp is not as well engineered as the Oysterclasp but the rest of it seems to be pretty good.

I think they are both great watches!

Oh and while true most Omeags do not hold there value like a Rolex, my Spectre has been selling above list, if you can find one, since it was released several years ago

I’m pretty sure you’ll all say don’t do it but I’d like to hear from owners of both to help me decide Thanks John
Dear John (Wait a minute, isnt that an American TV sitcom in the early 90s staring Judd Hirsch? )

Then I guess I'll be the only SOLO ( Yup. Another blockbuster Star Wars movie just released worldwide) here who will go against the thoughts of 99% of folks on your thread
It's a really sweet gorgeous dressy sand- blasted platinum plated dial Speedy and I would give the GSOTM a.k.a 'The Lunar Dust' a higher rating over the original DSOTM and I love the DSOTM so that's saying a lot....
My advices
✓ If you decide to flip, I suggest that you wait till next year when rumours of the DSOTM, GSOTM and the other variants would finally be bestowed the METAS certification and stamped the Master Chronometer status Cal 9900. The models are expected to be re-tweaked to slimmer casings
✓ If you still desire the original GSOTM, then get a pre-owned which I think is fantastic Bang For The Buck !

Buy what you like, Omega makes a great product for the price and there movements are extremely accurate and innovative.
Exactly. Narrow minded people round here. I love Rolex but to say that Omegas in house movements are worlds behind Rolex is a ridiculous statement. Both are great.
