Insurance new for old -advice

Question - I have sadly had my 18K day date oyster perpetual thieved - insurance company have been great but seems best option is new for old through major Rolex dealer as I seem to get £25k to spend and can buy just about any model versus taking a cash offer of quite a bit less
I have
Submariner "kermit" which I gave to my youngest on his 21st
GMT Master II - which I gave to my eldest on his 21st
Daytona - Which I gave to my daughter on her 21st
I also had a Deep Sea Cameron from new - which I paid £9k for which some loony at work offered me £12500 for - so I sold it 6 months ago - kind of miss that watch
What would you buy?
I am out of personal Rolex wathces to wear now but have loads of other things for daily use (Citizen to Breguet)- wanted something a little different maybe - or do I buy another Deep sea Cameron?
I wear watches - don' t keep them in boxes etc - so each watch donated to children were sent for full service and polish and in one case new glass at Rolex -
I never wore the Daytona - dont like the look - but now I really like it -
I like the white gold Submariner - but is it too "in your face"
I dont need a dress watch as I have one of those - I like rugged but subtle (I know Deep sea cameron could kill a mugger)
Thoughts and comments very welcome please

Cool dad!

The answer partially depends on whether or not you are prepared to buy grey or not because various professional models e.g. the JC are not necessarily easily available from AD. Also d’you want to spend the £25k on one watch or on multiple watches? I like the look of the WG Daytona on OF since you’re now a fan - and for me it’s the best version of the Daytona - or the WG GMT BLRO for that money.

Why not pop to a few local AD's walk in say right I've got 25k in hand for a new Rolex, looking for something a little different... what have you got or what can you get.

Should prick their ears up a little.

All good advice so far - didn't think of challenging the dealers to excite me a little - I do love the WG Daytona - wonder if I an get one for the PX
Insurance company ha ve sent me to one of the London Mega chains that will do no deals I am sure - but technically i could deal with any Rolex dealer I imagine if they cant match the price

I agree that the WG Daytona on oysterflex is a great option for you. Especially since you seem to really wear your watches. It’s different but still beautiful. I also think you need to add the deep blue when you can. I’m pretty sure an AD would be willing to find you the new model ASAP if you buy a 25k watch from them.

also SD43 and a SS daytona makes a lot of sense - as 2 very different looks for the px of something IO was hardly wearing - I wonder if they will do that

Mum walked into an AD back in 2002 looking for a watch for my dads 30th, think 5k max budget.. he didn't have anything that caught her eye in budget, then he wipped off his personal Rolex ODP and said you can have this for well within budget. Off it went for service etc and was purchased.

Now its my watch, first Rolex.

What I'm trying to say is all though they might not be advertising some watches.. there might be some hidden away in the back or even in personal collection that could be had!

Just wondering, how old was the DD you had?

Does your insurance cover the current market value or the price you pay (or paid - invoice) at an AD? Since there is a BIG difference between both.

My DD was 1996 - I paid £9000 for it and had it serviced every 4 years or so - like all my watches - I have been totally honest with insurance and listed each watch separately and who wears the now - One of kids lives in central London now - so he only covered when he is wearing it etc -I didn't even realize it was a new for old as I have never claimed on anything ever before - must be 34 years of premiums - so probably paid enough premiums to buy myself every rolex model ha ha

Sounds like this could be a really fun time to find a watch you love.

Any interest in another child? I'm available.

Good to hear to be honest.

How did they steal your watch though, off your wrist or someone robbed your house?

Not entirely sure how - but Was coming home from a dinner via Waterloo station and got bumped at the ticket barrier- I assumed the bracelet had snapped and it dropped off -but Brit transport police convinced I may have had it lifted - I seriously doubt it and they have not found proof on CCTV - but the clasp was so tight - I hardly wear that watch and have to take it off using a metal shirt collar stay! as I have psoriasis and my nails arent strong enough

I still think the bracelet failed despite very little use over 20+ years of ownership
