I've serviced my Datejust probably 3 times in 31 years of daily wear (1 1/2 years of once a month wear). I generally had it done when the crown would no longer seat in the case. I don't torque the crown very tight, but it seems like over time the threads wear and it gets harder to close.
The Daytona has been wound infrequently because the crown doesn't need to be opened for a date change, and it is keeping virtually perfect time. I likely will not service it for ten years, unless it starts acting up. Previous threads on this subject have gotten as contentious as "polish/don't polish" threads so it's nice to see most posters here don't think you're taking your life in your own hands by going 5.1 years between services.
