I didn't even have to use the "configure" feature... I just went to all GMT MASTER II models... Still there, in all its glory!

Have to agree with you 100% Alpino, but a AD stated to the original poster they are discontinued, so it must be true. But today many ADs might live on fantasy island,I hear thats now well over 10ft in bullshit.

Probably going to draw some fire but what the heck. I got curious after seeing this post and checked some US AD websites. Most ADs except one are now missing 116710LN and 116710BLNR under their lineup. Not suggesting anything...

A cynical person would suspect that the ambiguity of the situation is deliberate to stimulate discussion and demand.

Pepsi is more like an instrument in a vehicle. BLNR is more 'watchy' like a skyphase? How I see it anyway.

Dude. The D-Blue is also being discontinued. I saw a youtube video that said that. As such I'm willing to sell you this highly collectible item for a discount of $19usd. What a deal but act fast.

The gmt LN is “missing” as well

I’m not commenting on the discontinuation of these watches, however, Rolex does makes money from discontinued watches simply because of marketing, hype and demand.

When Rolex discontinued the 116520 and the prices jumped up immediately by 4k on the secondary market. That makes the brand overall more valuable.

That says to enthusiasts and casual observers alike, buy our brand because the value always goes up. That type of organic marketing is priceless. There’s no marketing company in the world that can write a campaign like that for you.

So in this case, let’s just say for example the BLNR is discontinued, not only does the new BLRO become even more desirable but all the other GMT models also become more desireable, even the PM ones. Think about how many people are pushing aside the idea of buying a SS Daytona, and going for gold simply because of the secondary market values.

Some people are even selling their SS Daytona’s purchased at MSRP, and using the money to buy gold models.

Anyway, sometimes a company discontues a successful product and it leaves you scratching your head. Yes, not everyone knows why Rolex does what they do, but their marketing team definitely knows what they’re doing.

I just spoke to my AD after reading this thread and she assured me she will have me a BLNR within 6 weeks. I’m rolling the dice here and hoping it gets discontinued haha

It's just the mini 'catalog' Rolex can't put everything in there. Total BS.

I will post from Japan.
Because it is translation software, I am sorry if it turned out funny English.
Why is it that only BLNR and LN are not displayed in the press room of Rolex's official website? Is it only in Japan?
For other professional models, all reference numbers seem to be consistent. . . (Difference in color of dial is the same reference number: gray and blue of yacht master for example)

It is the URL of the official Rolex press room in Japan.

Furthermore, Rolex historically discontinues models early in the new year just prior to Basel. This is most recently reflected in the Yachtmaster and Milgauss models that were discontinued in the past couple of years. Rolex IS the only official source of information and that includes their master catalog and website which has always been reflective of available options.
Great comment
