Icon2 Incoming Vintage King Seiko 44999

I just got this amazing 44999 in from Japan. This ref was one of the very first of the 2nd generation King Seikos with the 44 movement and first KS screwdown caseback, renamed the 44-9990 soon after it went into production. They were made from 1964 to 1968, and this one has a serial dating it to January 1964.

I was really lucky to get this one in close to mint condition, with sharp lugs, and it takes pride of place in my Vintage KS collection.

An article on this reference can be read here for anyone interested: http://wornandwound.com/affordable-v...90-44ks-rules/

Thanks again guys. I'm happy to say it's only gained about two seconds over the last 24 hours. I suspect it was recently regulated.

Have a great weekend all. Stay cool Patrick, my friend

Reminds me of the 60's, something Dad would have worn. Beautiful condition. Love the back, too.

Cheers,
DM

Lord Marvels are great. I look forward to seeing it. Did you get the stick dial or arabic? I actually bought this King Seiko with funds raised by selling my stick dial Lord Marvel. Kept the arabic for variation in the collection, but probably should have just kept both, as the stick dial was running perfectly.

Stick dial

Looking forward to another sweeping seconds hand. Not sure what I will do if this needs a service. Need to find a (vintage) SEIKO watchmaker in the US.
