The smoothness of the winding.
The crispness of the sandwich dial or paint.
The decorations on the movement.
Missing triple boxes.
Mismatching serial numbers.

Numerous more.

The 2 and the 6 are usually a dead giveaway, as well as the spacing, but "little hero" recently made a near perfect rep dial. It's scary.

The gears in the movement look so fake in PAM 183. And maybe in another models too.

I'm sure the discussion of purchasing a fake watch are frowned upon; however, I would like to wear a 44mm Panerai for several weeks before throwing down a wad of cash on a new, authentic Panerai. Does anyone have any reliable websites which sell high quality replicas where you have experience purchasing from?

Thanks!

Not fakes but 'Hommage' watches. Do an ebay search for Marina Militare

No, not yet anyways; however, I would like to wear a 44mm for awhile before plunking down $5-8K on an authentic Panerai. Your mileage may vary.

The hommage watch is a very good recommendation, mailman. Thanks!
