Annual clean up

With the sweaty weather lately I thought it time to clean up;

Removed all the bracelets, with the proper tools easy enough:

Size: 289.2 KB

The watch heads in a bowl with hot water, dawn and a tooth brush to clean under the bezels:

Bracelets into the ultra sonic cleaner, the only way to clean properly. Amazed to see how much gunk comes out from bracelets who were visually very clean. I spare you the picture

Size: 281.1 KB

Checking all the screw pins and finally a pressure test, never had one fail the test:

All fresh and clean, ready to be worn again

Good work.

Unusual to see one underwater and still under pressure.

Nice collection. I typically resort to the shower and a towel but my wife already has the ultrasonic cleaner .... this is how projects start.

You don't really need one though, even the ones >15 years without service run fine and are 100% watertight. Just a fun gadget

Don't have the pictures anymore, but about half a teaspoon black gunk after eight bracelets. Note that i cleaned them with dawn and a toothbrush before using the ultrasonic. It really works great and it feels good to wear a very clean watch.

Great job and collection too

Most welcome anytime, but a small warning is in order I still manage to scratch up the bottom of a lug now and than. Glass fibre pen takes care of that

I did some of the Mrs jewellery to and the diamond rings really shimmer like brand new

Thanks, it is a fun thing to play around a bit with watches. Wish I could go one step further and do some light maintenance i.e. oiling.
Sure I am gonna make a mess out of it

I've always been confused about the pressure test. To determine that it failed, you'd get water in the case, no?

Wow!!!! Fantastic job. Are you the same way with your vehicles??? I'm betting yes!! A couple of weeks ago I took about 25 watches out of my watch box and and gave the leather straps a cleaning and treatment with Lexol, my wife thinks I've lost my mind.

Not really, you pump it up with the watch above the water, wait a few minutes and than submerge and release the pressure. If a bubble stream is visible pull it out straight away because than it is leaking. The watch is overpressured as long as the bubbles keep coming and in the same time no water can enter.
