As long as you can effort it ;) you only have a problem if you have a mortgage (or even worse: CC or car loans to pay off) + buy luxury watches twice.

Actually, I think that people, who have such payments to make should hold back on luxury items. I'm not saying that someone with a mortgage and a healthy (private) cash flow should not buy a Rolex... but it has to be in balance in order to avoid financial struggles.

My perspective changed a bit about 10 years ago. I witnessed what a good friend went through when his brother died abruptly with a catastrophic sudden cardiac event at the age of 26. I had always been the type to save every penny, pay at least $2,000 extra towards the principal each month on my mortgage, and only buy necessities. My philosophy is a bit different now. Live for today as you save for tomorrow. Balance is important. A huge debt load is unhealthy, but not rewarding yourself is also not a good idea IMHO. Balance is key, and everyone’s comfort level with debt is different. Obviously the goal is debt-free, but how you get there is a different story.

I’m sorry to hear about your friends brother Jason.

I agree 110% with you. This advice applies to many aspects of life: relationships, diet, work etc etc.

All WIS are a bit crazy. Having said that, nothing wrong with the OP collection.
