Random Observation
It's just struck me that the majority of "nice" watches I see out and about in the real world are worn by men. By contrast, when I'm at work, the majority of the high-end time pieces seem to be worn by women. A crude estimate would be about 70%. This isn't because I'm the only man. At a rough guess, it's a 50:50 split between men and women.
The obvious disclaimer is that this is based purely on my observation not any sort of data but it's a bit of a gentle curiosity to occupy an idle moment. Has anyone else noticed similar trends? |

If your observations are accurate and you're seeing a clear majority of watch wearers (men) in the wider sample (real world), then it's logical to assume the opposite majority (women) you're seeing in the smaller sample (work) is an anomaly of the smaller sample.

I was using the term interchangeably to mean the kind of watch brands that we habitually discuss here e.g. Rolex, Omega, Breitling, Tag, etc. As I say, my sampling methodology is based on what I see day-to-day when in the office rather than anything robust or exhaustive

Most women I know tend to wear "fashion" watches. I think mens watches are also easier to notice the "luxury" brands. I know a woman that wears a $26K Bulgari but if you weren't into watches you would think it is just a "fashion" watch. I find it much harder to notice and call out all "luxury" brands of womens watches.
