Have my 10 year wedding anniversary coming up. Need my fellow TRF’s advice!

Okay so have my 10 year wedding anniversary coming up and would like to surprise my wife with her first Rolex.

She’s a casual lady but occasionally will get dressed up for a night out in town usually with me but with her lady friends as well.

Should I go with the black or silver dial here? Also, is this watch a date just? I noticed it only reads “DATE” in the dial. Don’t think I’ve seen that before.. Thanks fellas.

I would ask, what do you think she would like better. Every woman will have different tastes

She has a very mixed wardrobe. I like the black but do you think the silver is more versatile? Thanks

How about a more simple OP 31mm?

I just did this for my wife and picked her up an OP 26mm with silver dial but she likes small girly watches. I would have grabbed the 31mm if I could not have found the 26mm.

She really likes the silver dial, says it goes with everything.

To me, black is a little masculine and silver is nice but is a like it/hate it color. To play devil's advocate, have you thought about white or mother of pearl?

Not when diamonds adorn the dial and are encircled by a similarly bedazzled bezel.

That is a Date model, not a Datejust. The Lady Datejust has a little less size but more options.

I’ve owned two lady DJ over the years - one with a dark dial and one with a light dial. I loved both ... but found them both hard to read depending on the lighting.
I think the issue might be the hand and indices - everything is so delicate and shiny .... lovely but hard to read . So ! I think if you’re steering towards a DJ- look at the larger Oyster Perpetual . A larger watch face will be easier to read .
Regardless of what you decide, she will love wearing a Rolex!

I agree the 28mm are more difficult to read.

My wife wears a 34mm silver dial and it looks perfect with everything.

My girlfriend will be purchasing the black dial variant. It’s absolutely beautiful in real life and has a sportiness that the 31mm can’t match.

I’ll post pictures from her wrist later on.

I'd prefer the Black since it'll go with so many more different colors and outfit imho.

Either or ...... I'm sure she'll be more than happy

Haha after 10 years, u should know what ur wife would like...

If u r not sure, go with the black dial.
It’s elegant, but also can be sporty.
The black dial is more legible than silver dial.

But no matter which dial, I m sure she will love it

THIS!!!!

Have your AD put several aside and arrange a time to go see them. Have a nice lunch and drop by. Trust me, this is the best idea. I picked 5 that I thought my wife would like. I've known here for more than 35 years.

Once the initial shock and surprise wore off she started trying things on. She almost immediately jumped all over a 31mm DJ with dark grey dial and romans on jubilee. It was not even on my radar but she fell in love with it immediately.

The watch was every bit as special as a surprise gift but in the end she got what she wanted.

Good luck!!!!

I bought my wife a Platinum DD at 36mm for a recent anniversary with a silver platinum dial. She had no idea, and she LOVES IT!! I traded my WG Daytona for it with cash added, and that makes it even more special for her. She knows I loved that watch. IMHO, keep it a surprise if possible.
