Thoughts on the Breguet Marine 5817ST
Thinking of trading my Sub C 114060 (plus cash) for the Breguet Marine.
Anyone have experience with this watch, if so what are your thoughts? Edit: Sorry, I meant to pose the question in the title. I realize it doesn't appear to have to do with Rolex at first Last edited by Dadovah; 20 August 2018 at 12:04 PM.. Reason: clarification |

I bought mine about 4 years ago. Love it. I have the steel bracelet (old version) as well as a blue leather and blue rubber strap for it. I think it's beautiful. Buy it pre-owned and you should be able to find a good deal on it.

I like the Marine a lot, but the BP FF even more in this space.

I adore the marine. My preference however would be to go for the larger GMT and Chrono version which is 42mm as opposed to the 5817 which i believe is 39mm.

Big date
I've always liked the 39mm Marine with the big date. I can't speak to specific issues, other than the style and general Breguet quality. The Marine is no diver, but definitely a nice sporty model and has some nice dial options, too.
I'd make the trade. As to the Fifty Fathms, 45mm makes it quite the beast and, IMO, a lot less versatile than the Marine. |

I haven't held the Marine, but Breguet certainly are top notch, and I do like the style of the watch.

Also, might I suggest you look at the JLC tribute to deep sea? Limited run in 2011, but they pop up from time to time. Unlike a sub, I've never seen anyone else have one (if you're into having something a little unique). Imho, great styling and proportions as well. Favorite watch that I own.

The Breguet is on another level than a Rolex and the Marine is a classic with an excellent movment and a hand guilloched dial with beautiful flame blued hands and markers (rolex pvd's their blued hands, as I confirmed at a boutique).
You'll love the marine. |

The marine is amazing! I would say do it if you're still under consideration.

I'm about to follow you into that piece. I love that 39mm marine.
