What’s up with the so called exclusive AD relationship.
I’ve bought 3 watches, 2 Rolex, 1 Omega from the same A/D, over the last 3 years, not necessarily the same sales person. I’m in Florida, Gulf Coast, and stuck with really one AD chain in a 100 mi radius.
I’m a sales exec, I understand relationship selling, never seen it, when buying from this AD. I hear invited to back room, bottle of champagne,...??? Never happened, should I be tipping , pay over $12k, what??? I’m getting ready to buy a TT DJ 36, for the wife. I’d like her to witness this experience, I’ve never seen. Could buy the watch in Detroit , if needed. |

No offense, but 2 Rolex and 1 Omega, as much as they may cost, does not make you a big spender unfortunately. Buy your TT DJ from whatever AD may be willing to give you a little discount. A TS on TRF may give you a better deal on that watch.

I guess the bigger question is, how much you have to spend for the full on, pop a bottle, treatment....

Always helps to deal with the same sales person and preferably the manager so that might hurt you now, plus some Rolex chains I've been to never offer a drink as per policy I think, whereas Omega and Breitling always do... think I could probably get them to pop out and get me a sandwich while I'm browsing too.

I’m in NYC/LI and was told buying a watch or two isn’t going to get you anywhere. You have to be buying from them regularly to be even considered for a hot SS model. They even told me even if I bought a PM piece it won’t get me a spot for a hot SS model.

At a $100k transaction, I’m not gonna be that guy, now maybe a DD40, they should drop the balloons, for that transaction.??

What's wrong with water? You get used to it, after a couple of watches.

I was given a bottle of Taittinger when I bought my Tudor GMT in Switzerland. My understanding is that they don’t do discounts here, but probably not a whole lot of discounts anywhere on the Tudor GMT right now. Anyway, it was certainly a very nice gesture considering it was one of the least expensive watches in the shop.

Maybe it’s becuase I’m dealingg with a chain, versus, a mom and pop. I had a guy tell me the very same thing, he bought a watch, Rolex SS, from an AD, in St. Louis, and they popped a bottle, like 3 years ago. I think I would take a plane ride to witness it, within the continental US, not Switzerland, Switzerland understands the man/watch relationship.

I also live on the Florida Gulf Coast. I've purchased an Omega, 2 Breitlings and a Rolex all from area ADs. I can tell you that one Rolex AD is MILES above the other. I was offered a discount on my 214270 and was offered a no date submarnier with no prior purchase history. The other AD wouldn't budge on the 214270 and told me that I should be lucky to have the option to buy a sports model from them given the "shortage". Feel free to DM me for details.

I have no idea what the threshold is for an AD to really make the experience special or to score the nice gifts. I guess as long as I’m getting the watches I covet without waiting ages, that’s good enough for me.
Let’s face it, I’m sure they see a lot of people walk in flashing money and acting like they are special and entitled. Doesn’t always work that way. |

When I bought the Omega , they seemed a little miffed, I didn’t roll out with a Rolex.
I need to go in there, act like I’m going to buy a Tag, then bust out the buy, on the TT DJ36. Hummmm..... |

Are you looking for some type of recognition at the point of sale? It’s overrated. Don’t focus on the experience as much as the price offered. Go with the AD that gives you the best price. Just my opinion.

They gave me a box of Rolex chocolates and a jewelry bag when I bought my 114060. The owner also personally congratulated me and fitted it for me. I guess I'm from a place where dropping 10k still warrants some gesture of appreciation. Not that I was expecting a red carpet treatment.

It's much more fun...
... to celebrate a new watch purchase with a few fellow local watch enthusiasts. Hopefully you can find some of those folks around you. "Celebrating" with a dealer isn't really genuine, since you're basically paying for the party with your purchase -- i.e., I'd be thinking the whole time, "How about knock $200 off the price of the watch rather than wine and dine me for an hour?"

Yes, I agree the celebration of a purchase on this Forum is far more genuine, And I guess with a discount I can buy the Bubbly, I just got Tapatalk, so hopefully can send pics soon. When I’ve tried to upload pics, it says my size is greater then 1250x1250.
All good, thx for the input from all. |
