Rolex goes one better. They didn't just make it bigger so they wouldn't have to use a spacer, but to enable the date window to be in the proper position on the dial. A smaller movement would have required the window to be closer to the center of the dial, and it would have thrown off the dial proportions (see IWC Mark XVIII). That's what I love about Rolex.

The Exp. II Polar is on my short list of favorites to add to my Sub C. The main things holding me back is size (I have a 6.33-inch wrist that makes the Sub look like a chunk) and the lack of Glidelock (I'm spoiled now). But I do think it is a fabulous reference nonetheless. The fact that it isn't as in demand as the Subs and GMTs only means the masses haven't figured out its awesomeness. That's their loss, and a gain to anybody who wants to track one down for a relatively reasonable price and minimal wait.

In my area there are no Exp 2, Polars, 6 digit available contacted two separate Rolex AD's. I was asked to put down a deposit by one of them to special order one then was contacted by the AD who advised they could not deliver so refunded the deposit. Clearly they there is demand.

I ended up going with DavidSW who had an unworn/stickers in place, box, papers, etc for a little under retail. Went smooth and I'm very happy. This watch is gorgeous and extremely comfortable. Don't think I'd like the smaller 5 digit and think the 42mm is a great size (IMO).

In my area two different AD's one of which has stores in three surrounding states could not secure me a Exp 2, 42mm, Polar. They are clearly in demand.

Ended up going with DavidSW online for an unworn 42mm, Polar, box, papers, stickers, etc and everything went smooth. Love the watch and its extremely comfortable!
