I like my Rolex but I would never allow any company to dictate policy to me the way Rolex does. I would make a lousy jeweler for sure.

I believe that if RolexUSA found out that an AD was shipping watches out the back door, they would not be Rolex ADs for long.
Plus, I am sure that Rolex requires a signed agreement between the two parties on the payment terms. Last year, a huge firm in the Boston area called Alpha Omega went bankrupt, sticking Rolex with big losses. I would believe that Rolex learned from that experience. |

You're absolutely right. They have to save face and even go as far as saying how common Rolex is and is not as exquisite as brand x or y. And if you're a collector, you'd go for something more special and unique. Yeah, whatever.

Every time I see the title of this thread, I think "oh no, an AD dropped a Rolex?!" And then I think "I hope it wasn't a customer's Rolex!"
And then I realize again it's about losing it's account...

Harder to find in a global recession... hmmm like on craigslist or on the counter of my pawnshop. A Patek or Vacheron are the UPMARKET watches, Panerai will edge into that category before Rolex, and even Panerai is riding a trend. But Omega is enjoying and owes a great deal of its success to Rolex and its continual price increase, they offer a comparable chronometer for 1/3 - 1/2 the money. A few more price increases and people will just say fine I'll take the PP Nautillus or VC Overseas |

i have a buddy who is a Gm at a AD.
the stories he tell me are unbelievable! how about rolex coming in an "auditing" your books to see if you gave out discounts? which in turn effects how you are dealt with them (stock, special units, etc...) they also got a new regional rep, he is the son of another higher up old school rolex executive. the top sales person at this AD said " your son is sooo nice and such a pleasure to work with" the response she got was " yeah, he's new to rolex ... he'll learn quick" TRUE STORY! Rolex has gestapo tactics and although I love my watches IMO the can F*@k themselves with the way they do business. |

And if Rolex keeps raising prices, then nobody will buy. Not literally, but you know what I mean. The two most recent price increases (both this year) must of hurt sales bad and also throw in the rough economy.

What a mixed bag of replies here seems a lot of people don't belive their AD's, I trust mine as he told me he wanted to carry on selling Rolex but they would not let him take less stock or offer discounts in these hard times and as he was not about to let his buisness or staff suffer due to Rolex demands he stopped selling them, also as I mentioned before another AD said if it was'nt for head office he would stop selling Rolex as got a safe full can't sell but Rolex demand you still keep buying stock so put some faith in your AD's they might be telling the truth for once

the less rolex you sell, the less they send you. Maybe they are being forced to drop it?

Afraid the discount thing is just not true. I have bought from Ernest Jones who discount (clearly and openly on the till receipt), and another chain with 30 plus shops who also discount, marking the percentage on their receipts. What does your AD think these guy do, cook the books of their listed companies just so Rolex doesn't find out.
Sounds like sour grapes to me, sorry. |

I use one's around NW London, Brent X, Enfield, Welwyn Garden City....You do need to persevere, these are the same people that tell you there is a 12mth wait for a Sub, then when you phone the next branch they have one sitting in the window.
