Rolex 5513 GILT or Patek 5711

"Simple" question, should I sell/trade my 5711 (2017, no it did not buy it from Patek before anyone asks.) and get a NICE 5513 Gilt. I have been looking for a nice 5513 GILT for a while now, and I think I am finally ready to pull the trigger on a nice looking 5513 GILT, but then the 5711 has to go. Whats your thoughts. I really could use some help here. I know this is the vintage part and most of you guys will say 5513, but here goes nothing!

I wouldn’t make that trade unless it’s full set box and papers/ museum quality or you were getting a fair bit of cash in return.

I own both the 5711 and 5513 gilt. Not good advice but I will never let go any of them.

That’s a tough one. Even tougher without pics of the gilt. I assume the gilt is immaculate condition (no papers)and it’s not a direct trade. I would probably lean towards Patek because it’s the only model I like in the whole line up, n I’ve been looking for one. On the other hand, good condition gilt 5513s r beautiful. Yet, a good condition matte 5513 will scratch the itch for that vintage sub for me.

I blame it on autoconnect.

I would keep the 5711.
I don't own a gilt 5513, I did own a few matte dial 5513s, and other subs, but the 5711 is a really exceptional modern watch that I enjoy a lot.
If you couldn't justify adding a gilt 5513, perhaps a matte 5513 to do it, if it means keeping the 5711 :D

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Just to chime in as someone who has owned excellent examples of gilt and matte Subs, there is NOTHING like a deep black, glassy, flawless, gilt dial. One can stare at it all day long.

I agree. Rolex gilt dials r some of the most beautiful vintage dials out there, of course only if they r in very good condition without any defects. One only has to see it shine n glow under the sun. But then again 5711 dial is also simply gorgeous especially the blue, dare I say, even better looking than the original 3700?

I would keep the 5711 and add the gilt when possible.

I'd take any Rolex over a Patek.

A gilt sub? You have to ask?

Rolex 5513 GILT or Patek 5711

I have both and would have to say the 5513 by a significant margin. So much more character and wearable day to day. With the exception of pool duty.

Here’s mine just because:

That would simply be an image of the OP looking sheepish in front of a frowning bank manager. Or wife.

Good luck with your decision, SubMariner55. I don't think there's a losing scenario here.
