Why do I read so often about Calatrava being the ultimate dress watch?
If anything is the ultimate dress watch it’s either Philippe Dufour Simplicity, Laurent Ferrier Galet, Credor Eichi II or Rexhep Rexhepi Chronometre Contemporain.

Anything else absolutely mediocre at maximum!

I have a Day-Date. It's great, but it's not a "dress watch".

VC Patrimony, or maybe a Calatrava.

I'm sorry but a dress watch is something that one would 'dress up' and wear: a tuxedo perhaps.

Aside of the Breguet those are all glammed up sport watches and not dress watches.

I get excited about other brands, like breguet, but am always disappointed when I see them in person. Rolex on the other hand always exceeds expectations on the flesh. DD is the same, I would feel 100% confident choosind a Day-Date.

Going through this same decision. I’m down to a JLC MUT or ALS 1815. Leaning toward the ALS but the extra cash is giving me pause.
