As I read the responses in chronological order I found myself disagreeing with the notion that you shouldn't contact LAWW simply because too much time has passed, though I understand sentiment. But for the benefit of knowledge I think passing along the "occurrence" can only be a good thing. As the years pass the potential for more and more of these episodes increases, one would assume. Perhaps there can be a Best Practices procedure (prevention) that comes out of this? And, as you noted, your contact-approach was "very open-hearted" so I don't see how any ill-will could come out of it.
Just my 2 cents.

I have found Beau and Edvi to be pretty open to comments and questions. Good on you for calling them. They are good dudes!

Thats a tuff one to explain. Ive bought 100s of dials in original wax paper and thrown in the bottom of drawers in the past. Ive had mint dials in watches that were never serviced put in a safe box and years later they were not the same. So its tuff to tell on something thats 40-60 years old why it degrades all of a sudden.

Haven’t heard back from the fellas at LAWW yet, but I was a little encouraged to see that the same year reference with a dial featuring a tad more “character” is asking this much.
