I’ve come to prefer the fatter lugs. I doubt I’m alone.

Hmm...I don't know. I have a hard time seeing anything in the Rolex line undergoing a mass sell-off or a bloodbath. IMO, of course. It certainly hasn't happened with the so-called 'sports' models that have been discontinued to this point. Or the DD2.

And I agree. There are those who like the larger case, and those who don’t. Like you, doubt that the used market will be flooded with the maxi case if Rolex revises the case design.

Don’t you think we already know what the new Sub will look like with the BLRO, CHNR, etc...? The case needs slightly changed to fit the new movement but nothing drastic. History has shown this is how Rolex rolls products into market.

Not sure what you guys are talking about please enlighten me.

Honestly an extended power reserve doesn’t do much for me. If you’re always wearing it then there should be no need for a 70 hr reserve, and if you rotate often with 4+ watch collection a 70 hr reserve will be flat anyway by the time I get back to the watch. My DaytonaC is always in need of a full wind when I get back to wearing it.
True. I'd like a 70hr power reserve.
I also agree with everyone else that the new model would be in PM.
I would like to point out that short supply though... Just Rolex is selling far too many or they are changing/making a new sub.

X2. My thinking as well. I’d buy the current generation right now, if I was in the market for a Sub.

I think the GMTs are more likely to continue with the new mvmnts, the sales of watches this past year shouldn't make much difference to Rolex whom I 'm sure plan these things far more in advance and without reference to current trends.

Yes, I was affeared that my DD2 would fall in value upon its 40 usurpification, but when I came to sell it a few months later for a Nautilus I got a very nice price from a dealer.

I’m going to have to say, that there are just as many here on TRF and probably even more out there in the non WIS world, who prefer the “inexplicable” fat lug look or that don’t differentiate because of it.

Also to Mystro’s point above, the changes at Rolex tend to be very subtle, more like a “creeping nuance” (to borrow a term from Tim Mosso). The difference between the redesigned case of the BLRO vs the BLNR is barely noticeable, at least to an old hack like me.

My 116610LN's movement is averaging -0.60s/day. I have Quartz watches less accurate. It's hard to imagine the new movement being better, but certainly possible.

Don't know when the next Sub will come, but I'm 100% sure the dial will be ceramic (like in the recent Omegas).

I don't think any changes the Submariner undergoes will be substantial. I can reasonably agree there will eventually be a movement upgrade combined with an almost imperceptible case change. I don't think the case will go back to slimmer lugs and if they do, it will barely be noticeable.

This has been talked about when it comes to predictions for 2019.

Now it's been said also that the low supply of subs could be due to a new model about to be released.
What would this do to the value of the 116610?

It angers people when I ask about future value but I'm about to buy a Near New SubC from a seller at MSRP and just thought I'd think about the possible future.
Who knows? Just buy the watch and enjoy it. If a new Sub is released I doubt you’d be able to get it anytime soon anyway. A near new Sub at MSRP sounds like a good deal.

Low supply indicator of new model?

rolex must be working on a whole new line up then... lo

On the current sub - I honestly think its such a nice watch even if a newer model came out it would do nothing to values as the price of new models and availability eill all play a factor.

I bought my sub for £5300 in 2015 - best money i ever spent
