I agree with you. I will probably keep both. The SS as daily and TT for more special occasions.

i think you should get the one you want and sell the other one that you don't want......it doesn't really make sense to keep two GMT unless they are dual-color bezel stainless-steel models for variation

Normally I'd say use your own decision making ability rather than ask a bunch of strangers if you should now spend your hard earned cash on the watch you actually wanted, to go alongside a really similar one that you didn't particularly want, but bought anyway.
but yeah, go for it, buy both and anything else the salesman suggests....
