Updated D-Blue
Just hoping to get some feedback regarding the updated version of the deep sea. Is the wearibilty really better? Is it really more balanced on the wrist? I actually thought the first version felt comfortable. Any comments especially for folks that have had both will be appreciated. I understand the size of the wrist is a big factor with this piece. I also totally get the allure of the DSJC.

I don't believe there any differences in the size/shape of the new vs. old DSSD. Only cosmetic differences. Both models should wear exactly the same.

I bought the newer version last week due to the improvements. I didn't wear the previous version but the main thing is to size it accurately to your wrist as it needs to be worn a little snug. I am really happy with my choice. |

I've never owned the 116660 version, but recently bought the 126660 DB and it's super comfortable. I have a RG Daytona too and it's certainly heavier, but still just as wearable.

Thank you for the feedback. I saw a video from, I believe, “watch box,” where he stated that the new version is a little smaller lug to lug too. Killer watch regardless. Hoping to add one soon.

All this hype about the new watch vs the old is a bunch of hogwash. My AD has a 126660 I have the old 116660. We could not tell any noticeable difference wearing either. Even the thickness or weight difference is unnoticeable.

Yes the dial now has the crown on to denote the new movement. Also the minute hand and second hand is now 1mm longer. |

I think it’s all marketing to be honest. I have small 7.25in wrists and after playing around with links and removing the diver extension my JC1 is super comfy. A 70 hr movement over a 48 hour movement means nothing to me. That’s why I have a watch winder or god forbid have to wind the watch and actually set the time if it sat more than a few days lol.

It is a new watch.. I do not like the heavy lettering and the size, but this is just me. I have tried it on, and you have to wear it really snug...

Love my 126660. If I had the 116660, I would love it all the same and just as much. |

I recently tried it on, I do have a 7.5 inch wrist and it felt heavy on my hand. You should try it on before purchase, Just an advice

As the owner of a new Black one (D-Black?) am I allowed to comment? :)
In my opinion, the changes mean that this watch does wear better. Before getting my 126660 I had only ever briefly tried on the 116660 so was not really in a position to compare - but since getting it I have had a better look at the old model. I think the main change is that the new model seems more stable on the wrist, as well as a slight enhancement to the visual proportions. It's always going to be a thick watch, but if you wear it slightly snug it sits down on to the wrist somewhat due to the caseback shape, and the incredible Glidelock lets you get it fitting 'just right'. I still find myself reaching for the DSSD/D-Black every morning!!! |

I have owned a DSSD since the first year they came out. I was able to sell my black one for a good price because I wanted the JC model several years ago. When the new one came out I loved the subtle differences.
Again, I was able to sell the existing piece and acquire the new one with little to no money out of pocket so I went for it. Both points of view are correct. In a blind test or a vacuum you won't notice the difference. If you hold them side by side it is definitely noticeable and the new model is for sure more well proportioned. If you can get the new model I would wait or pay a small premium for it. If you have the older model and are happy with it then keep it and remain happy. If you have the old one and want to jump then you should be able to sell it easily. Whether you can score a new one is another matter.

I also sold my 116660 D-Blue and acquired 126660 D-Blue and very happy with it. As far as wearability I don't really notice any big difference. 116660 always felt very comfortable but from esthetics point view you can see how more balanced the new reference is. Especially the tempered bracelet looked out of proportions given SDDS size and the new thinner lugs look better too IMHO.
