Deepsea 2010 vs 2017

is there any difference between Rolex Deepsea(same mode - 116660) made in 2010 and 2017 ?

some people are saying Rolex used ETA movement for Deepsea models prior to 2017, is that true ?

Whoever said that buys fakes and is with all due respect an idiot.
The Deepsea has remained the same throughout it's production cycle using an in-house Rolex movement with the only changes being to the dial.

There's no significant difference in 2008-2017 rather then writing on the dial.
The dial changes are between MK1, MK2 and MK3. This was described here on TRF in details(you may use search for this topic).

The movement for DSSD 116660 never changed. It's the same 3135 caliber.

The dial changes are hardly noticeable and make no difference in perceived collectability

I think OP is asking about first version of DSSD (08-17) vs. Basel 2018 version.

08-17 DSSD sports the Rolex 3135 movement

2018 DSSD (both black and D-blue dials) arrived with slightly different dimensions (see below) and contains Rolex's 3235 movement. Warranty went up to 5 years. Service interval went up to 10 years. Accuracy to +/- 2 secs/day. Rolex crown between "Swiss" and "Made" at bottom of 6 o'clock position. Minute and seconds hands both extended 1mm in length to match up with minute indices around the outside of the dial. Use of DEEPSEA font on Ring Lock to match (previous watch used "Superlative Chronometer" font on Ring Lock). New watch has slimmer lugs for wider bracelet (width added to center link) for better fit/comfort and wearability.

For dimensions, from old (left) to new (right):

Case diameter: 44mm for both
Case thickness: 17.7 to 18.2mm
Lug to lug: 52.5 to 51.8mm
End link to end link: 55.7 to 53.3mm
Bracelet width (lug gap): 21mm to 22mm
Clasp width: 18 to 19mm
Crystal thickness: 5.5mm for both

The case thickness is not 18.2 on the new 126660. It is still the same 17.7. This was posted in another thread, Steve measured them both and they are both the same thickness. That video is wrong as he likely used uncalibrated calipers and he also used a prop not a real watch.

Having owned both old and new side by side, I can attest that the thickness was the same although I didn't use calipers to measure.

Whoa - Tim is wrong in his video. I trust him, but I have also not placed calipers on the watch, so I trust someone has.

Warranty went up to 5 years a couple of years ago or more now.
