Where should I buy - Canada or UK?
I've decided to buy my first rolex for my birthday at the end of January, probably a sub nd or Air King. I live and work in the UK but I'm currently in Canada (Calgary) for the holidays and trying to figure out if it makes more sense to pick one up now (and save on taxes) or wait till I get back home (and save on the exchange rate). Any thoughts?
Thanks! |

I was just at J Vair Anderson (downtown Calgary) and they are giving 10% off list and maybe 20% off on older stock. The CAD list on a SS AK is $4400 and a Sub ND is $5420 there is only 5% tax in Calgary. I am not sure on UK list prices are. Maybe someone on the fourm from the UK would know?

Also Welcome to TRF! It is a great site. There are a few people on here that live in Calgary.

Hi hoxha - there are deals to be made in the UK.
Why don't you call a few ADs in your UK hometown (from Canada) and try and cut a deal? You can then compare to the prices at your Canadian ADs

No comparison. CANADA.
With the exchange rate, I think you would get a better deal here, no? |

Current exchange rate for pound to Canadian dollar is dreadful as it is for most currencies. List price (including tax) the sub is C$190 (£110) cheaper in uk. (if list price is the $5420 mentioned above)

Go with Canada. The prices are relatively low when you factor in exchange, and the tax is really low in Calgary.
Go to Brinkhaus, they should give you a fairly good deal :) |

Sorry guys. I never knew that the pound had taken such a sh*it kicking. Looks like the UK could be the better way. |

Especially in this economy, I could probably push for a bit more. Of course, there has been news stories in Calgary about how Rolex, Bentley, Ferrari, Patek, and such are selling in record numbers still. |
