Incoming Bambino Version 5

Well, anyone who's been paying attention knows by now that I've been in love with the Orient Bambino watches.

I already have three, the latest of which I purchased on Black Friday.

Right after that someone here mentioned something about the new Version 5, which I hadn't heard of so I checked it out and just today, I ran across a couple of videos that impressed me quite a lot.

I would really like to see Orient move a little closer to the 36mm-38mm case size, but I can accommodate the 40.5mm cases well enough and the features of this watch are such that I just could not resist.

It has basically the same stepped case as the other Bambinos that I have, which I like a lot, but it is what's under the box crystal that really turned me on: the pie-pan dial and the long curved hands, as well as the stylized numerals.

The recent feeding frenzy over the luxury brands has really turned me off, so I've been spending my money on different stuff and feeding my watch addiction with some nice vintage pieces and some lesser expensive watches that strike my fancy with their "near-luxury" styling.

The Bambinos fit that bill very well, I think.

Agree that this probably should’ve been around a 38mm. But fits you very well. Congrats on the acquisition!

Congratulations Grady

I particularly like the white faced one with the blued hands. Just goes to show you don't have to spend a fortune to get a watch you can enjoy.

I feel the same way Grady. I was never really a fan of the new Rolex cases so I had been vintage/other brand hunting for a while.

Just picked up my new Nomos Club Amsterdam the other day. Picked up the snoopy Timex Marlin a couple months ago. Watch collecting is so much more fun when you don’t limit your collection to a specific brand or only “haute horology”.

My new Bambino just came in today!

The dial looks much better in person, having a kind of silver, mini-metal-flake appearance that glistens in the right light, rather than the plain white that it appears in pictures.

I'm also in love with the long hands and the stylized numerals that give the watch a vintage look.

In fact, the watch, while having a modern size at 40.5mm, does look something like a small, vintage, pocket watch.

The indices at each numeral are highly reflective and adds a richness to the dial that one can only observe in person.

The strap has a matte finish, unlike my other Bambinos that start off shiny and lose some luster as time goes by. The strap is also tapered and much more supple than the straps on my other Bambinos.

Orient really hit a homer with this one, especially given the price. It's a real looker.
